I reach Master Lin's office about 15 minutes earlier than he expects me to be there. I become anxious all over again at being called to his office. I can't help but wonder if it's from today's training, the fight with Chico this morning, or maybe even back from when we retrieved Marcus. Maybe I messed up somehow and now I'm being punished. It can't be my grades, they're perfect. I can't be punished, not again. I shiver and feel a cold sweat travel down my spine. I need to stop freaking out. I need to calm down. I have to calm down.

I clench my fist so tight that the pain from my finger nails piercing my palms brings a sort of peace. I take a breath and hold it in until my lungs burn, then I let it all out slowly. Letting it all out. The anxiety, the memories, the pain. I mustn't reminisce.

I open my eyes after realizing I closed them. It feels likes I've been standing here, in front of Master Lin's door, for minutes, but in reality I was trapped in my head for mere seconds. I sigh, letting the rest of the past few minutes wash away. I lift my hand and knock on the door twice. A faint 'come in' is heard and I proceed to open the door. I walk in, close the door behind me, and bow my head to Master Lin as a greeting. I look up to see Master Lin get up from his seat and walk around to lean against his desk. He gesture for me to take the seat in front of him. I take a seat without a second's notice.

"Ace" He greets me, I nod back in return. I keep quiet, sitting in my nerves.

"I called you down here to discuss some things" He starts off slow and hesitant. I patently wait for him to say what he has to say.

"I received a call today, your mother has requested for you to return home for the next few days" He gets to the point quickly and I almost wish he didn't. I freeze once what he says registers in my head. He watched me carefully for my reaction, but I'm completely blank.

"You will be excused from your classes for the next 2 days and given all your missed work in advanced as to not fall behind. King's will assist you with transportation home and back" He informs me with gentle tone. Well, as gentle as this man can be. I nod back unconsciously.

I have to go back home. I have to see my mother. My fingers twitch from the anxiety running rampant through my body. I try not to lose my breathing by releasing a deep sigh. Not once in the three years that I have attended school has she called Master Lin to request me home. She will usually put a sort of request in to the monks to let them know I'm needed home during the school year. Even then, that is scarce. I only ever come home for breaks and summer. It must be something important for her to go to him directly. Master Lin knows who my mother is and knows what kind of person she is. I'm not surprised he called me to his office to personally inform me of my mother's request.

"I understand. I'll begin packing my things immediately" I calm answer back even though there is a tidal wave of emotions happening inside. He holds a hand up to indicate he isn't finished.
