The thunderstorm shook the entire building, awaking me with a rattle of my bed. I sat up with a grunt, rubbing my eyes. Pulling out my phone, I checked the time, which read 7:24 AM.

I groaned, slamming my head back against the pillow. Suddenly, I heard knocks in sets of five roll across my door. That could be one only person. Scary Larry.

Rolling off my bed, I landed with a thump on the ground, earning a yelp that escaped from my lips. I sat up and rubbed my back, taking a moment to close my eyes and breathe deeply.

Another set of five knocks rolled on my door, except a lot louder this time. I muttered a curse, making my way through the dark, tripping over my guitar, but I caught myself on the door handle. Sighing out of relief, I opened the door to see Larry with an excited look on his face.

"What is it, Lare Bear? It's seven in the morning," I scowled, rubbing my eyes. "Good morning to you too, Sunshine." Larry replied sarcastically, but still kept that same stupid grin on his face. I tapped my foot as a response to go on, and he shook his head and snapped out of his trance.

"There's two new neighbors, one being a dude about our age, and another being his father. Dunno, I hear he wears a mask.." He trailed off, coughing slightly. "But yeah, dudette, we should totally go meet him."

I smirked, fully awake now. My ruffled hair was a mess, but to be honest, some people said it looked hot. 'Some people,' was meaning a lot of guys who just wanted me for the looks.

"Well, that's too bad. I was looking forward to kissing him." I said in a seductive voice, earning a digusted look and an "ew, what the hell Y/N?". I giggled. "I'm just joking, Larry. Come on, let's go meet him!" I pulled his arm out into the hallway, where he stopped, making me tug on his t-shirt.

"Larry, what's wrong?" I pouted. There hadn't been a new person in, well, years, because after they all arrived at the apartments, they left within the first week. Sure, there was some scary and weird shit, but it wasn't that bad. I was thrilled, actually. He scanned over me head to toe, before sending an awfully confused look my way.

"Y/N, you're sure as hell not going in that outfit," He quickly exclaimed. I rolled my eyes and huffed. "Sure I am. And you can't stop me."

Larry groaned, yet smirked a second after. "Fine, whatever you say Princess. Just make sure you don't lead him on or anything. Oh by the way, we're going out-"

I raced for the door before he could say another word, sliding on my athletic shoes and a thin raincoat before opening the basement door, running towards the elevator.

"Wait up!" I heard Larry call. I scowled, but held the elevator for him as he ran in, out of breath. "Slowpoke.." I smiled, and he just ruffled my hair even more, making it all frizzy. "Hey!"

Before we could say anything else, I realized I pushed the button for Level Three, and the doors opened. There was Mom, standing right next to a blue-haired boy with a prosthetic mask. I stood there with my lips parted, unable to come up with words to say, before Larry pulled me straight out of the elevator and onto the newly-mopped floors before the doors could shut. I still stood there frozen.

"Come on, Y/N, what are you waiting for? I thought you were so excited to meet the new neighbors," Larry smirked, and I elbowed him.

We ran up to Mom and the boy, whereas Mom was partially surprised to see me that undressed running around the apartments. I couldn't tell the boy's expression, but his body language suggested he felt awkward and also didn't know what to say. He just kept staring at my feet.

"Oh, uh, hey Mom, I see you've met one of the new neighbors," I muttered. The boy continued to stare down at my feet, and I smiled softly. I guess we were both a bit nervous.

"And I see you, missy, have not changed into proper clothes for a first meeting!" She exclaimed, giving me a frown. The boy looked up, but quickly looked to the side as his ears turned red. I heated up, but forced my reaction down my throat as I nodded and buttoned up my raincoat, looking down at my sneakers.

"Anyways," Larry said, giving Mom a nod, "wanna come chill with us dude?" The boy turned his head slightly, but nodded right after. I smiled. "Oh, also, do you have any extra stuff you may need to bring inside?" I added sheepishly, rubbing my arm. He shook his head, making me heat up even more, but I quickly snapped out of it.

"Alright then, let's go!" I said excitedly, adding a quick "love you Mom!" as I grabbed his hand and ran towards the elevator. He didn't squirm out of my soft grip, surprisingly. Larry smacked his forehead, making Mom chuckle as he then chased after us.

Three minutes later, we were down in Larry's room playing Twenty Questions, while Larry played his guitar without the amp, afraid he'd wake up the neighbors. I sat on his messy bed with my legs crossed as the boy dangled his feet off of the bed, looking down at the stained carpet. My brother was a messy dude, and that was a fact.

I unbuttoned my rain jacket and tossed it to the side of Larry's bed, giving out a small yawn. "First question.. are you outgoing, or shy?" I asked, fiddling with my hands. I didn't even know this kid's name, and somehow, he was already in my brother's room. He didn't respond. "So, I guess you're shy," I replied at the silence, lowering my head.

"Hey, smarty, how about you start out by asking him his name?" Larry interrupted me a moment later with his back turned, facing his amp as he fiddled with his Fender Stratocaster. I rolled my eyes at the comment before turning back to the boy, his blue bangs covering a partial amount of his mask, who was looking directly at me.

"Sorry, don't mind Larry. I'm Y/N, what's your name?" There was a pause for a moment, but he finally spoke up. "I'm Sal. Sal Fisher. But a lot of people call me Sally Face," He mumbled sheepishly. I smiled softly, and his ears turned red. There was something about his voice that was just soothing, and I couldn't help but be drawn to it.

"Well that's Scary Larry, the biggest frat guy in all of this town." I joked, earning a scowl from Larry. Sal chuckled slightly, his mask slightly raising from smiling, but fell back down as a silence arose.

"So, who were those detectives?" Sally suddenly asked, and Larry shook his head.

"Sorry you had to move in the day after that horrible shit happened.." Larry said, his tone solemn and his words slowed. I paused before looking over at Sal, and I parted my lips to explain, but nothing came out. For some odd reason, he kept staring at my lips, but then we made eye contact for a small second. I felt the heat between us grow as his vision snapped away, back to staring at his feet.

"Uh, I, um.. our neighbor, Mrs. Sanderson, was brutally murdered." I muttered, closing my eyes softly, laying down on Larry's bed, my head facing the opposite direction of Sally. I closed my palm and sighed heavily.

"Well, do you have any idea as to who it could be?" Sally asked, scratching his neck awkwardly.

"It was that fucking creep, Charley! I swear to god it was over some pony obsession that they both had! She got a rare collectable item, and he fucking slit her throat because of it!" Larry yelled, standing up while grabbing his hair.

"Lare bear, calm down, we're going to get him!-" I said quickly, trying to get my brother to calm down. He sighed and nodded. Sal suddenly stood up.

"Well then, what are we waiting for? Are we going to go solve this mystery or not?" He said, his voice slightly muffled from his mask being moved. I moved it back into place gently before turning back to Larry.

"Oh hell yeah, count me in dude."

I smiled and stood up. "Me too.." I whispered. "Someone being a little shy?" Larry teased, making Sal's ears turn red and my face turn pink.

"Oh, hush!"
