Just like with Wilford, if you've been a fan of Mark for awhile, you've likely heard of Mark's brooding antithesis.

Darkiplier, at times called the Dark Mark, also has a long reputation on the Markiplier channel, though it's not as clear cut as Wilford's. Dark is most often presented in grey scale, and wearing a suit. His effects have changed from project to project, but he often has a red and blue glow, he sometimes flickers or morphs, and has been known to be accompanied by repeating motifs, and creaking or ringing noises.

The dark entity is known to be a manipulator, and often acts kind, offering promises, though he does have flare ups of temper. He is against Mark, and wants his downfall, but what else Darkiplier wants, especially what he would want from us, is kind of unknown. He is the villain after all.

His Origin and Appearances

Darkiplier's origin is a bit harder to pin down. Unlike Wilford, Mark never pulled the character out and said, "Here, this is Darkiplier". In fact, it's quite possible that the fans had a hand in Dark's creation. Darkiplier seems to have started from an attempt Mark made at making horror videos or being creepy, early on in his career. The first of these videos was "Don't blink" which features a morphed picture of Mark's face with blacked out, oozing eyes, which was posted to the channel on June 19, 2012. This was followed by "Don't move" which had a figure (which is clearly Mark) appear and loom in the background and then disappear. Both videos are short, and it doesn't seem that they were meant to be the birth of a character, and yet it seems they are.
