He's... the King of the Squirrels. That's all there is really. He likes to put peanut butter on his face to let squirrels lick it off, and run through yards screaming.

His Origin and Appearances

King didn't start out as a character. The video which would lead to the character appearing was, "King of the Squirrels", posted to Mark's channel on Jan 23, 2013, as an 80k subscriber special. It was a short video in which Mark smears peanut butter on his face for the squirrels to lick off, in celebration of 80k subs. When asked why, Mark runs through his yard, screaming out, "I'm King of the Squirrels!".

In a second video, "King of the Squirrels Returns", Mark claims the squirrels are calling to him and he has to go to them, once again smearing peanut butter on his face

In a second video, "King of the Squirrels Returns", Mark claims the squirrels are calling to him and he has to go to them, once again smearing peanut butter on his face. Again, when asked why, he runs through the yard, this time limping, and saying "ow" between his screaming. This was a video Mark posted after getting out of the hospital, even though he probably should have been in bed.

Between these two videos, Mark kept the title of King of the Squirrels, as it became something he was known for. "King of the Squirrels" is even still part of his bio on twitter.

It was the fan base that turned him into a character of his own, and he made his first character appearance in "Markiplier TV".  King wasn't even a part of the meeting, he runs up in a royal cloak and crown with his face covered in peanut butter, opens the door and declares, "I am King of the Squirrels." Then he leaves again.

Fun Fact: King makes an appearance in Mark's 20 million celebration calendar, along with his squirrels

Fun Fact: King makes an appearance in Mark's 20 million celebration calendar, along with his squirrels. Mark at one point remarked that his pose was the most unflattering.

It's hard to say if Mark would ever use King for anything again, but it's possible that he might continue to pop up, especially since Mark still holds the title of King of the Squirrels.

MY King of the Squirrels

King has basically no cannon. I tend to write him as a giant man-child, as well as giving him more of Mark's sweet side. Of course, he's also squirrel obsessed, but I tend to have it so that he never actually gets close to the squirrels. I write it that way because running across a yard screaming is not going to attract squirrels, it's going to send them running up the nearest tree. Plus I write him child-like and you've ever tried to feed squirrels (or chipmunks) with children, you know it's a process and 80% of the time, they get excited and scare the critters before they get close.

I also tend to write him so that he looks up to a lot of the other egos, with him having more of a child-like spirit, it just sort of fits.
