Another Turn

"I don't know Aiden. To be honest, I was about to leave this place next year. I hope to resist all this for the time being and I will be gone. You don't have to worry. They won't find me. Because Aiden, I cannot choose, not between them!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aiden gives me a nod.
"Kiara, I understand, but you really have to choose between these two. Neither of them will stand each other. They will need a solution, which will not be there if you don't choose between them"
How on earth will I be able to choose between them? This is getting my head for god's sake! I cannot think of anything for the moment.
"But Aiden,…"
"What did I miss?" Balthazar steps up out of nowhere, which practically scares the hell out of me. A moment before he was not here and all of a sudden he is here!
"Jeez…you need to stop doing that really!" I speak.
Having no clue upon what he did, Balthazar asks innocently, "Now what did I do?"
"What did he do?" suddenly Zacharias is there.
"Both of you seriously need to stop appearing like that!! It scares me okay?" I speak up, frustrated.
"Habituated, sorry!" Balthazar shrugs.
"It's getting colder. Kiara needs to be home right now. She will catch a cold." Zacharias points out.
That feels funny. Home? Where is my home? Home is the place where I should have felt safe. A place where I feel free doing whatever I like, where I can be me. Here, it feels like I am in some kind of prison. It's suffocating. How can I go there? A peal of upset laughter escapes my lips which draws the attention of all three.
"What is it, Kiara?" Aiden asks, concerned.
"I don't want to go there Aiden. I just don't…I don't feel safe or whatever"
Aiden nods in understanding. "I get you Kiara, but for the time being, you need to be with me. I need you to stay in front of my eyes okay? The city is not safe, it's more dangerous than what you think the house is. And I promise nothing that happened today will be repeated again! I will protect you."
What could be worse than what happened today?
"I and my pack will always be there. Don't worry" Balthazar assures me.
"Me and my members as well. It will be alright." Adds Zacharias.
And Aiden says I have to choose between them. These two with whom I feel safer, who I met some hours ago. I don't think I can ever choose between these people. God knows what will happen in the future, but for the time being, I am going to give them some time. I have to find out more. Whatever is happening, it is becoming hard for me to comprehend!
"Okay. If you guys say so." I nod my head in understanding even though I don't feel like going back to that place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As soon as we walk out of there, cold wind washes over my face. For a split second, it feels like I got plunged into ice water. I can literally feel the cold seeping inside my heart and that cold cutting in my veins. I freeze.

"We were here to search for you," Abbarane speaks up.

"I was with..her." Zacharias indicates me.

I shiver from the cold the group is giving. I feel hot hands wrapping over me. I turn to find out Balthazar holding me. "I see that you are cold. Mind if I hold you?" he gives a sheepish smile.

No. not at all. Your hands are so damn hot that I feel you are my personal heater. How can I say that now?

"No. I am fine. Thank you. Aiden I think we should head towards the house." I could not call it home. "It's damn cold here."
"What about you join us in our house tomorrow for breakfast Kiara?" Leander speaks in a cheerful manner. Maybe he was trying to cheer up the mood.

I share a look with Aiden. He shrugs at me, meaning as if it is my choice.

"Sure. Why not?" I smile with a reply.

"I will pick you up at six in the morning then. Yeah?" Zacharias gives me a cheeky grin.

"Let's go, for now, Zac" Abbarane speaks again.

"Yeah" and just so the whole group is gone.

I feel Aiden carrying me and in a fraction of time, we were in front of the house. As soon as I land my feet on the ground, I feel someone tapping my shoulder. I turn around to see Balthazar behind me.

"Can I hug you?" he asks.
"Umm…okay?" I was not sure what to say.

He hugs me tight. "Be careful tomorrow. And remember I am always there" he whispers in my ears and then he is gone.

A ghost smile lands on my lips. At least there are people who care. Oh, people would be an understatement right?
