Doctors and Love

I hung up the phone. I raced into the building. "I'm looking for Harriet Hayes room. I am her family." I said. "Room 113 on the left." The nurse said. I ran down the hall. "Miss!" The nurse called again. "She's in surgery." I stopped in my tracks and fell to the floor. Everything went black.

I woke up in a hospital bed. "That's why I told you to wait." Matt said giving me some water. It had a straw in it so it made it easier to drink it. "Well you could have just told me that. Versus a nurse yelling it down the hall." I told him trying to sit up. "Let me help." Danny said running to the side of the bed. "Thank you Danny." I said as I was now fully sitting up.

"I think we all need to talk about you and Harriet." Danny said sitting back down on the couch. While Matt sat on the end of the bed. "I like Harriet a lot. More than I have ever liked any person ever. I think I could even love her." I said. They just looked at me. "What about Harriet?" Danny asked. "She likes me, she just doesn't know how to go about it. She's been the way is was for so long that all of this is new and foreign to her. Especially being a Christian who was almost dumped for the whole gay thing a few years ago." I said again. Matt just looked at me. "I really like her guys. I like the way she smiles and the way she laughs. And how she has this little lip bite when she wants to laugh but can't or when she is trying to be flirty. I love that she has history with everyone at the studio and I love that she is letting me get closer to her than most people would be able to." I blurted out without even letting Matt get a word into the conversation. "You really like her don't you?" Matt asked. I shook my head up and down. I felt embarrassed and stupid. I felt like what I had said I shouldn't have. "I know I have only known her for three days but in reality I have known her a lot longer. I have met her many times in the past because of Matt and her being together." Danny got up and walked over to me. "Your cute." He said kissing my forehead. "You and Matt need to talk." He said leaving.

"Matty?" I asked he wasn't looking at me. "I love you Bella. You scared the hell out of me when I didn't find you in my office and when you wouldn't pick up your phone. I thought that maybe you relapsed." He said looking at the scars on my arms. I was in a hospital gown. Those didn't have sleeves. I moved my arms so not as many of them were visible. "I wouldn't do that Matt. Not anymore. Not again." I grabbed his hand. "Never again." I reassured him. A nurse walked into the room right then.

"We have someone coming in to talk to you about all of the scars honey." She began to say. "Yeah I know the drill. You bring someone into talk to me and they tell me if I cut or try to kill myself again I will be locked away. I know what happens." I said to her. I was still holding Matt's hand. I was to scared to let it go. "Also I thought you would like to know that your friend Harriet is out of surgery. She is in the ICU and she is stable for now. We are not letting people in to see her right now out of fear of giving her an infection." The nurse said to the both of you. "I already spoke to your brother in the hallway." She said motioning to Danny who was standing in the fire way. "You will be able to see her very soon if she continues to stay stable." The nurse said leaving the room.

"What's up with having to talk to someone about suicide?" Danny asked walking back into the room. I held up my wrists. "Oh wow." He said. "I don't really care about them anymore. I wear long sleeves so people don't react like that but yeah. I don't really care anymore." I said to Danny shrugging my shoulders. He sat back down on the couch. "You guys please stay in the room when I talk to this doctor. I hate being alone when I do it. Matty would know he has been doing it with me for years." I said laughing. "Not exactly laughing matters Bella." He said unable to keep a straight face laughing with you. Danny soon joined in as your laughter was to contagious.

The suicide doctor walked into the room. "Hello. I am doctor Ryans. I will be talking to you today. The boys here will have to leave." He said to me. "No they are staying. They stay with me every time I talk about this. You aren't going to change that." I said to him holding Matt's hand tighter and grabbing Danny's. "Okay then." He started to ask me a whole bunch of questions I answered honestly. Danny was very confused and surprised by the end of them. Most of all he was shocked and said for me.

"Well okay." Danny said laying on the couch. "I never wanted to know that much about you." He joked. I laughed. "Yeah well who ever said I wanted you to know that much." I raised my eyebrows and he burst out laughing. "Oh my god stop. You look so stupid when you do that." He laughed.

The nurse from before wakes back into the room. "We are discharging you. Drink lots of water and eat some food." She said handing me the papers. I signed them and then told Matt and Danny to leave so I could change. I put the jeans and long sleeve shirt that I had before back on. I walked out into the hall. Danny and Matt were waiting for me. "They told us to go to the ICU waiting room and wait till we are aloud to go see Harriet." Danny said. "Matt you're going back to the studio. The people need to practice. Bella will stay will me and we will practice her lines and in the Christian case her dance moves and singing. Quietly of course." Matt just shook his head. "Hey dummy you forgetting something." I said. "No." He walked into the elevator. "Yes!" I tossed him my keys.

     Danny and I sat down at seats in the waiting room. "Let's practice your lines." He said to me. I stood and began the humming for crazy Christians. I sang my lines quietly then went back to humming. I did all of the dance moves and stuff as well. Then he wanted me to practice the news. I did all of my lines perfectly and on que. "your doing really well Bella." Danny said as a nurse walked into the waiting room. She walked over to us. "You can see her now."

Danny and I stood up and followed the nurse to Harriet's room. "She was banged up pretty bad. She won't look like how you remember her for a little while. Don't freak out when you see her." The nurse said opening the door. I put my hand over my mouth. She looked half dead.
