CHAPTER 3

The commotion was massive, sirens where blaring, the cops had surrounded the building.

Gavin was on the roof, ready to jump, or so he threatened.
The cops where pleading through the mega phones, spectators where there to watch. Everything was so loud.

This noise did not affect Gavin though, he came there for one reason, to get Eleanor, It was Eleanor or a dead Gavin , it was as simple as that.

A cop had climbed to the roof, Eleanor followed, both trying to calm him, and get him off

" Don't- don't come any closer, don't come any closer else I'll jump" he warned, stepping back, they froze .

"Please Gavin, please give this up, I'm married now, its been so long since we broke up, my husband and I have even set up a school together during that time, I thought u understood, we just weren't meant to be" she pleaded

"No - no - no , don't tell me that Elean, i loved u, I still do, I'll always do, u were my seventh , the one I really really loved, our love was perfect, our love was pure, how could u leave me, for that bastard, the same one who stole all the others from me, the same one who caused me too tear up every night, how could u Elean, how could u betray me for that backstabbing son of a bitch who called himself my friend, how could u?"

Eleanor was practically in tears
" I - I didn't know , I didn't know who he was. You never showed him to me, besides , we broke up before we met, I didn't know , I had no idea, but he's changed now, and he's sorry"

Gavin drew in a long breath,
"Okay, okay I get it, you didn't know, its okay, let's go home Elean, let's go back to the way things were, you have to give him up for my sake, you are going to right?"

Eleanor swallowed and bit her lip

" Answer me woman?"  he bellowed

Elean almost jumped , but still refused to answer
Gavin chuckled

" I thought - I actually thought u were different, you're just like them, you are all the same, liars and cheats - I can't believe I love u , I love u Elean"

Now it was Elean's turn to be angry
" How dare you Gavin, how dare you say that to me, you don't love me,you never did, I loved you, I loved u so much,you broke up with me, u left me, u sent me away" she screeched

"Don't u remember? You said you needed space, time to think, it wasn't my decision, you forced me into it " she accused

"I - I didn't ask u to leave - not entirely, I was confused, I just needed time to think, I never wanted u to leave, I - I ....." he tried explaining

" Then why, why didn't u stop me, why didn't u come back for me, why now, why after all these years when I'm finally able to move on with my life after the heartbreak you cost me? Why!"  she asked, bursting into fresh tears .

" I.........", suddenly he do slipped, the crowd screamed, the cops were busy putting measures in place for his safe descent , he was hanging on by a hand

" Elean, Elean, help me, save me" he begged

He heard her scream, and she was soon over him, trying to reach him with an outstretched arm, he managed to grab on after a while, everyone had their breaths held as she struggled to get him back on top . Fortunately, she succeeded , he was safe

" Elean, Elean, " Dan, her husband called as he rushed up to the roof, he'd heard what happened, and feared for his wife.

He seeing Elean sprawled on the floor so close to the edge breathless, got him agitated, he totally ignored Gavin; his ex best friend, and run to her side,

Gavin was speechless, fuming with anger, that was his woman  that bastard was touching
" how dare you!?"  he growled trying to reach for Dan.

Dan dodged , unfortunately Gavin's footing wasn't strong enough, he slipped again, with no one to save him this time.

He broke his neck and died, that was the end of the story, his story, the end of Gavin The Unfortunate, as his story was now termed.

Gavin closed the diary, Eleanor's diary, he was now Gavin the ghost though, the poor poor ghost. It had been so long, too long.

At first, he just wanted to stay till she died, so he could go with her
But he didn't, he couldn't. He now contended himself with staying in the school, her school, where he died, a totally ridiculous death.

He'd been stupid, too stupid, he didn't deserve her, he didn't deserve to move on to the afterlife, he didn't deserve rest.

So he stayed, he practiced so hard to be able to open it; her diary, to touch her stuff. He no longer looked at Dan with hatred, and when he died too, he realized , he did feel sad, he had changed after all.

At first he was constantly beckoned to move to the after life, the light frequently blocking his path, urging him to leave, he always managed to resist,  now it didn't come anymore, it was as if even the spirits had given up on him, like he had given up on himself.

But then , he didn't deserve to leave, he deserved the loneliness that now surrounded him, the memories that tortured him.

At first he stayed with the believe he had to set things right, he didn't know what he had to set right , he didn't even understand himself.

The days when he had a choice in leaving were over, he couldn't go even if he wanted to. But maybe, just maybe , if they tried calling him again, he might, he just might finally leave.

Honestly, I don't get this guy, what is wrong with him, I can't believe he died so ..............😑
Anyway
Thinking of the trouble he'll help orchestrate. He's really pissing me of, I mean seriously.
