TONY'S P.O.V.
As I headed downstairs, my head throbbed badly as random thoughts rushed across my mind... The same scene kept rewinding in my mind-
'So, how long are we going to have to keep all of this hiding from her? She has got to know it all some day.' Loki said.
'As long as we don't get our hands on the cosmic cube.' A tall, dark figure replied, in a deep voice.
I dragged myself downstairs and stood my ground in the living room upon seeing the view in front of me.
There was a group of people sitting in the room. It consisted of Nick Fury, who had the same black long leather overcoat on, just like the figure I saw some time back, Natasha Romanoff, who gave me a warm smile, Wanda Maximoff, who was using her powers to levitate the cup of coffee in front of her, and Tony Stark, who was trying to calm the group and constantly rolling his eyes at whatever talk he found dull.
Tom soon joined me in the living room and he seemed as much surprised as I was at the scene in front of me. Loki then descended down the stairs along with Thor, talking about something. Tom and I exchanged looks and then went closer to the group, as Loki and Thor entered after a few seconds after us. Loki introduced us to the group as Tony raised an eyebrow at him.
Okay... Is it just me or is something wrong or fishy going round here? I was still drowned in my thoughts when Loki brought in dinner to the living room for everyone.
Mr. Stark then got up and paced towards me.
'Is everything alright, Jr.?' Mr. Stark asked.
'I guess, Mr. Stark.' I shrugged.
'Come along with me.' Mr. Stark gestured me to follow him outside to the garden area.
'Sit down, kid.'
I took my place on the bench as Mr. Stark sat beside me.
'I asked once, and I am asking you again... Is something wrong?' Mr. Stark queried me.
'I don't know, Mr. Stark. After my parents' demise, I was all alone. Even at the hardest time, I didn't go to my friends because I was afraid of hurting them because of me. I didn't want to bring anyone down with me in the mess I have been after their demise. And now, that I think about it, everything feels so unreal because I have found a new family of you incredible people, who I never knew actually existed in the real world. I have been in the Marvel fandom for so many years, and soon it became my virtual family. But I never expected to have a family of the whole Avengers team in real life.' I ended with a smile.
'I can see where you are going, kid. If I were you, I would probably feel the same. I mean, I actually feel you because I have been there before. After my parents died, it was hard for me too to actually accept their demise and move on. Of course, I am a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist. I am Iron Man. I created the suits. But, Nick Fury was the man who assembled the Avengers into a family. Yes, it was weird at first, but then, everything became fine and we lived together as a family, in the Avengers Tower. It's all great, but sometimes, it becomes a pain, when someone gets hold of someone else's stock of food.' Tony chuckled.
'The Avengers Tower actually exists?'
'Of course, it does!'
I was amazed as well as confused. However, I was struggling to ask Mr. Stark about the sudden changes around me- Loki moving in with me, Mr. Stark renovating the house where I lived, and now, the Avengers popping up at my place. I even wanted to ask him if he knew anything about a 'secret' that Loki and Nick Fury were talking about.
So, I took a deep breath and did it. I finally asked him-
'Mr. Stark, I wanted to ask you if you knew anything about the changes around me recently?'
Mr. Stark was a bit surprised.
'What do you mean, kid?'
'I mean, what's up with Loki moving in with me? Why is my house going to be renovated? What are the Avengers doing here?' Do you guys know something that I don't know but should know about? Please, tell me...'
Mr. Stark didn't try to suppress the topic.
'I'm not going to lie to you, Jr. But there's something that you don't know and I'm not at the liberty to tell you that right now. Trust me, as much as I want you know about all this, I can't tell you for some time. But you will know it all pretty soon, kid. But you have to promise me that you will be strong, okay?' Tony stretched out his hand for me to shake it.
I sighed and was at least relieved to have my doubts confirmed. I smiled and took Mr. Stark's hand and shook it.
'It's a promise.' I smiled.
'Dinner is served!' Thor yelled from behind.
'Be there in a second, Point Break!' Mr. Stark shouted back.
We exchanged looks and then we both got up and raced towards the house like playful children.
