Kevin woke up, ready for another day of school. He was the kind of guy to be excited about school. He got dressed in his normal black jeans, black high-top converse, red button up and teal v-neck sweater before fixing his hair. He got ready as per usual, nothing spectacular happening. He grabbed his bag, which of course was Star Wars themed, and headed out. Along the sidewalk, he spotted a classmate of his. His head was down and was trudging along wearily. It took Kevin a few moments before recognizing him as Clyde Donovan. He hurried up to walk by his side.

"Clyde?" He asked. Kevin wasn't the best at socializing, but he at least knew how to start conversations. Clyde looked up at Kevin, his brown eyes dull with dread. Kevin gasped lightly as he saw the bruises and band-aids on Clyde's face.

"What happened?" Kevin was shocked by the appearance Clyde wore. Clyde sighed before replying.

"I-It's nothing." Kevin knew he was lying and wasn't going to let him get by just like that.

"Clyde, you can tell me." Kevin assured him, placing his hand on Clyde's back. Clyde hesitated, not sure if he should tell Kevin. He decided to anyways.

"It was Craig, Token, and Tweek. It happens twice a week, in the alleyway behind the school. Once if I'm lucky." He sighed, returning his focus on the ground. He kicked a small, black pebble that was left astray on the sidewalk. Kevin remained silent for a few seconds until speaking.

"I-I'm sorry, Clyde." Kevin said solemnly. He removed his hand from Clyde's back.

"Don't be sorry. It's all my fault." Clyde said, his eyes starting to water. Kevin hated to see people cry, it made him cry a lot of the time. But it was normally only for people who he was close to, and that wasn't that many people. Kevin felt his eyes start to water.

"Clyde, It isn't your fault. Nothing is." Kevin tried to comfort the other. Clyde didn't believe him, however.

"I just don't want to go to school anymore." Clyde sobbed. "My dad is an alcoholic ever since my mom died and he lost his job, Everyone hates me, and I can't seem to be happy." The words Everyone hates me stabbed Kevin through the heart. He couldn't bear the feeling of everyone hating him, even more so someone else.

"I don't hate you, Clyde," Kevin said. By now they had stopped walking. This was too much of a deep conversation for Kevin to keep walking. "My parents don't get home until 7 pm. Let's go to my house." Kevin suggested. He never thought he'd ditch school, but he doesn't want to see Clyde like this anymore. Clyde sniffled a yes and they turned around, heading to Kevin's house.

I hope I'm doing the right thing... Kevin thought as he wrapped his arm around Clyde.
