IT TOOK ABOUT THREE WEEKS TRYING TO GET READY FOR OUR adventure. It was hard trying to sneak food into my bedroom without anyone seeing it. It was hard because Mom always came into my bedroom to say goodnight, and Gratian often came into my bedroom at unexpected times when I was packing so I had to shove all my supplies under my covers or something.
"Can I come snuggle you?" Gray asks in a sleepy voice,
"No, you need to sleep in your own bed, mister," I pick him up take him to own bed, a small single bed that went through everyone when they were his age, "I love you," I lean over and kiss him on his cheek,
"Love you too..." he mumbles and he's already out. When I get back to my room Myles is there looking through my stuff.
"Is it good enough for you?" I ask in a teasing tone, he looks up at me with a surprised look on his face.
"What...? Oh-um, I- no that's-that's not what I'm doing," he stutters, I smile.
"I'm just kidding," I chuckled.
"Oh," he gives me a sheepish smile, "I was just making sure you had everything. Also I thought of a really good spot to meet at. What about the bridge going over your ditch, in your backyard?" I think for a second. It's hidden enough, there won't be anyone around, and it's in the shadows so if anyone does come than we could jump in the ditch and hide.
"Yeah, I think that's a good spot," I remark, "do you have a date picked out on when we should leave?"
"Yes, we'll leave February 10th, meet me at 12:10 p.m. If you don't show or can't make it we'll try the rest of the weekend. Okay?"
"Alright, now how do I go to this different world?" I ask. He smiles at me, and pulls me into a kiss. He wraps his arms around my waist, I wrap my arms around his neck and I melt into his grasp, then all the sudden, he steps away from me. "Now, try to think of a land with mountains, okay?" I nod.
"Okay, the land is called Thubaen," I can feel his hand slip into mine. I imagine hard, thinking of a land with a beautiful castle nestled into one of the mountains, grasslands that go on forever, "Imani, open your eyes..." I carefully opened my eyes. We were standing in a meadow with beautiful grass that went up to my waist. Huge mountains surrounding us. In the distance... there it was. A orange gray castle nestled into one of the mountains. It looked orange because the sun was slowly nestling into a V in the mountains.
"OH MY GOSH!! I have never seen so many MOUNTAINS!!" it echoes across the mountains. I pulled Myles into a long hug. He laughs, "I guess you're excited?"
"Yes!! I can't believe that this is actually happening!!!" I was jumping up and down, with a huge smile on my face, "can we just stay here, and forget all the stuff at home?"
"Imani, you need to calm down you, I still need to check that we have everything. If you want to camp Now imagine yourself home," Myles' hand slipped into mine, I closed my eyes and thought about my bed. Then I slowly opened my eyes and I was laying in bed with Myles beside me. I jumped with a start and fell out of bed. Myles laughed, and jumped off my bed.
"I gotta go if I want to pack my clothes, and other stuff." he said, helping me up from where I was laying on the floor, "I'll check your sword and daggers tomorrow, love you," at that he kissed the top of my forehead and disappeared. I pulled myself together and made a list of what I still needed:
Socks
Leggings
Canteen filled with water
Two loaves of bread (small bits at a time)
Flashlight
Apples
Hair Ties
A sudden thought flashed through my mind, 'Where are we going to stay? Myles never mentioned where we were staying... what is he up to?' I made a mental note to ask him where exactly we were staying.
