    Amara's parents moved from India to Atlanta, Georgia before she was born. Her father was a doctor, and her mother stayed at home and raised Amara and Arjun (who was three years younger than Amara) all their lives. Growing up, Amara was obsessed with art and tattoos — so her and her best friend, Jaclyn, opened their own tattoo shop in Atlanta. They also bought an apartment together. Even though they were very different (Amara being quiet and reserved, and Jaclyn being loud and outgoing), they were still the closest of friends.
    
                          
    When the apocalypse started, Amara knew she was fucked. She had no survival skills and was a rather timid girl. Jaclyn, however, was determined to keep them safe. They left Atlanta quickly, planning to go to Jaclyn's family's camp outside of Atlanta. They made it there, and stayed there for the first couple weeks, waiting for everything to blow over. However, one day, Jaclyn left to go get food... and never came back. Amara knew she was dead, and once again, knew she was fucked.
    
                          
    Even though she wanted to stay locked up in the cabin forever, she was starving and knew she had to get help. She left the cabin — and only a couple hours later was discovered by Daryl and Merle Dixon. They brought her back to their camp at the quarry, with Shane, Lori, and all of them. Amara keeps to herself — but has taken a liking to Daryl, since he is just as quiet and reserved as she is. She admires him and his toughness and his bravery, and wishes to someday be just as strong as he is.
