Hello dear followers, and welcome back to another Spotlight. Today, we've got a Romance story on offer for you. It is titled The Romancing of Tuesday Dennings, written by . This book was recommended to us by one of AliceHausling's readers.
The Romancing of Tuesday Dennings is very much a character-driven epistolary novel. Tuesday Dennings is a poet, who does not tend to get close to people. One day she receives a letter from a man called Simon Bernay, who is a fan of hers. Although suspicious, Tuesday is also intrigued by Simon's letter and decides to write him back. Since they have never met in person, it is easier for both of them to write their thoughts and secrets down, almost like a diary. Will their newfound friendship survive these secrets?
The first and foremost reason for us to love this book, is the fact that it's so different from any other story you can find on Wattpad, including other romance stories. The book is made up entirely of letters, which the two characters have written to one another. This is done absolutely brilliantly. Somehow, even though we never actually see anything from the characters, just by reading their words and thoughts we grow close to them, we start caring for them. We weep for them when we find out something tragic has happened in their past.
This story is fairly slow-paced. Although I am normally a fan of fast-paced books, it didn't bother me in the slightest in this case. The characters are so intriguing, the development of their friendship so captivating, that the pacing doesn't feel slow at all. With just one letter, you grow to care for the characters and trust me when I say: they won't let go.
Another thing the author has done brilliantly is the writing style. The characters have such a distinct voice. This voice fits both characters perfectly, as you'll find out once you get to know the characters. Not only does it match their respective backgrounds, it also fits with their personalities. All in all, it just feels so well-thought-out, the details are perfect, making everything feel even more real. Everything is written by one author, and yet it truly feels like you're reading the correspondence between two different people.
In short: The Romancing of Tuesday Dennings is a wonderful story, and we didn't doubt for a single moment that it should receive our Spotlight. Congratulations AliceHausling!
