Welcome back for our third ever Spotlight! Today's book is a...

Actually, I haven't been able to decide the genre of this book. Historical fiction? It's definitely set in ancient times. Fantasy? There's some magic involved. Action/adventure? There's some of that, too. Anime? Although I've never quite understood this term for books (anime is a film/series genre, in my opinion!), I can't deny that this fits the story best. So let's call it that.

Today's recommendation is a Historical/Fantasy/Action/Adventure Anime! The title is Lazari, the author SaintAlbus, and this book was chosen by one of the admins.

On to the important stuff! Why do we love this book?

Let's start with the characters. The main character, Isma, is the eighth son of a sultan, and therefore one of the princes of Mour. He doesn't really have the personality of a prince, though. He seems to be more of a follower than a leader. He is kind, introverted, and loves to read. All in all, very relatable! He also doesn't think very highly of himself, making readers feel for him and root for him the whole way through the story. His dialogue is perfect, fitting for a historical piece, too. And his interactions with his younger sister are just plain adorable!

Oh, and now that we're on characters, what an amazing antagonist we've got here! I don't want to spoil, but I was totally surprised when this character turned out not to be who I thought she was. The author has truly managed to completely change my perspective of a character within just a few chapters.

Just like the dialogue, the writing style and tone of voice are also very fitting for the genre and time period. And not only that, this author is terrific with descriptions, painting beautiful pictures of the palace and the city in our mind's eye. Oh, and the author marvellously makes use of cliffhangers, keeping you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.

Wait! We know you want to speed off to go and read that book already, but there's more! We haven't even talked about the plot yet!

Right then, we'll make it quick. The story starts with a couple of chapters of character and word building. This main character and the world around him are so interesting, well thought out and well described, that the author will have you hooked no matter what. Also fun are the little hints at what's to come.

And then it comes. Chapter two ends with a heart racing cliffhanger. This is the start of all hell breaking loose. And it's so exciting! I don't really want to say any more, because I don't want to spoil things for you guys, but suffice it to say this book is definitely worth a read.

All in all then, Lazari is very much recommended for both fans and non-fans of anime alike. It is an amazing story that definitely deserves more recognition, and more reads and votes. Happy reading!
