changbin wanted his life to be ideal. he found his passion at a young age, and worked as hard as he could to make a career of it. as a result of all of his hard work, he had managed to find a career as a music producer by the age of 18.

not long after becoming a music producer, he started attending some underground rap shows. not only did it give him inspiration for new tracks, it introduced him to whole different culture. the fashion, the slang, the music, every part of the underground rap culture captivated changbin. it wasn't long before he became a regular at the shows.

if you attend the same show every week for any amount of months, it won't be hard to find others who do the same. changbin eventually became acquainted with han jisung and christopher bang. it started off as them seeing each other during the shows and talking, but they started hanging out at other times maybe 2 weeks after they became friends.

they bonded over their shared interest for the culture of music and producing, and started making some tracks together. they called themselves 3racha.

seo changbin played his first ever show with 3racha on june 9th, 2016.

on a weekly basis, he and his small group of rappers and producers would perform in the same bars and clubs that they had met at. they didn't have a huge audience, but they put on one hell of a show. they loved their jobs, and put all of their energy into their music and performances. they rapped like their lives depended on it.

of course, they weren't famous. pretty far from it, but changbin was optimistic. he often told himself that everyone starts somewhere. even if the growth was slow, it was growth regardless. he had worked so hard to get where he was, he couldn't stop then. he wouldn't stop until he had reached the top.

no matter how many people showed up or listened, changbin was proud of every performance. he worked so incredibly hard on his music, and still couldn't believe he had the ability to show it to the world and perform it.he loved every detail of being a part of 3racha, even if they were just a small group of underground rappers.

but then, one day, they weren't just a small group of underground rappers. they had been performing twice a week for around 6 weeks, and they had found a small base of fans who would show up to nearly every show. they had garnered probably 250 people per show, and changbin was damn proud of that number.

250 people. that's all it took to get attention from companies.

it was maybe 30 minutes after their weekly performance, and they were approached by a well-dressed middle-aged man. the group of 3 was somewhat confused. this man looked nothing like the usual attendees of their shows, but who were they to judge? but, their confusion quickly faded once the man introduced himself. he was a talent scout from jyp entertainment, and his company had been hearing about their shows.

he gave them his card, and told them to stop by the coming week.

seo changbin became a trainee of jyp entertainment on july 14th, 2016.

after getting over the initial 'culture' shock of becoming a trainee, changbin was ecstatic. the first week was hell; learning talents you did not have, endless hours of practice, constantly feeling tired and hungry—you name it. it took him a second to find his footing, and then it was amazing. he finally had a chance to become a professional rapper, and under one of the biggest entertainment companies of korea.

as a trainee, he kept close ties to the other 3racha members. they weren't always in the same class, but they kept in contact.
