I walked towards the wolf slowly. It was beautiful, I thought. His fur looked soft as faux fur you'd see on these expensive coats. It's fur was a deep black colour that if he walked around at night, he would just blend in and no body would see him.
As I came closer, I could notice the movement of his breathing. It was heavy, he was in pain. I don't know why, but it ached to see him like this. At least I think it was a he.
I bent down slowly and cautiously. He lay there calm, looking at me with those blue eyes. He showed no fear.
I looked at his leg. There was a cut so deep that you could see the bone and layers of his skin. Half of me wanted to puke, the other wanted to cry.
"I don't know what to do. I have nothing to bandage it with."
I got up. Hoping to go back home to get a bandage, but not wanting to leave the wolf by himself. I don't want it to look like I just left him there to suffer.
The wolf watched my every move. When I spoke or tried to find something to help him, he looked at me as if he could understand me
I bent down again. This time to stroke his fur.
"I will help you. I promise."
I gently put my hand on his head and stroked his fur.
He didn't react. He just kept looking at me.
"Reia?"
I turned around quickly, startled.
It was Charles.
"Reia, is that a wolf?!" He started running towards me. At least I think he was, I was standing right in front of the wolf. I grabbed Charles after realising he was trying to get to the wolf.
"Charles! No!" I screamed. "He's hurt!"
Charles stopped and looked at the wolf. He looked down at his leg.
"Jesus, Reia! You have to call the animal services!"
The wolf whistled sadly to the response.
"No! They will keep him caged, or worse, they might even kill him."
Charles looked confused. "How do you know it's a he?"
I cleared my throat. "I don't."
Charles looked at me and shook his head, still panting.
"You could have been killed!"
I folded my arms. "Well, I'm not. See?"
The wolf whistled louder and began whimpering.
I sighed, trying my best not to go into tears. I don't want to show that I'm sensitive and soft.
I looked down at the wolf. His blood was soaking the grass red, and his leg was twitching in pain.
I took a breath in and turned to Charles. "Can you get bandages?"
"But, what about..."
"You can make something up and tell my mum." I explained. "Quick!"
At that, he ran back to get the bandages.
I sat on the grass and put his head gentle on my leg to comfort him. I began stroking him again, which made him stop whimpering.
I kept looking at his leg in worry. It wasn't clotting, the blood kept on pouring.
He wasn't healing.
"It's okay", I said, trying to soothe the wolf. "You're going to be alright."
I felt a tear rolling down my cheek, then falling onto the wolf's nose.
The wolf raised his head to look at me.
Then he began howling.
After a moment I could hear another wolf howling. It sounded so close. It wasn't far away.
Suddenly, a brown wolf with black eyes ran through the bushes of the forest.
It came to us with it's head down. It had a scar running down it's left eye.
It looked impassive. It sniffed me then it sniffed the black wolf's wound.
It put it's paw onto my hand that was on the black wolf's back.
Was it thanking me? Was it trying to tell me to take my hand away from the black wolf?
I took my hand away and gently put the black wolf's head on the grass that was covered with his own blood. I got up and took a step back.
The next thing I saw was unbelievable. Impossible. Shocking and surprising.
The brown wolf transformed into a man. Naked and calm.
I opened my mouth in shock. Part of me was amazed he was a werewolf, the other half was shocked that he was naked.
I looked down at my shoes and cleared my throat.
I felt he was looking at me.
This was so embarrassing.
"Do you have something sharp?" He asked me.
I looked at him - his face.
"No."
He sighed and looked around until he found a sharp stone. He took it and bent down in front of the black wolf.
Oh my God. I thought. Is he going to kill him?
The man put the sharp stone to his own wrist and cut it deep. Then he put his wrist above the wolf's wound. His blood was dripping into the black wolf's cut.
Before I could freak out, I realised the wound was finally healing - Quickly. His blood was healing the wolf.
The black wolf stood up cautiously. Then he looked at me - a thankful look - and walked away with the man who healed him.
As they walked away from me I realised the man's wrist was also healing.
"What world am I in?" I asked myself.
