Ada's POV:
After a few minutes of James and I passing casual insults at each other and laughing at how good they were, the food James ordered finally came.
"So," James said, gesturing his hand to the food in front of me, "Try it."
I said a quick blessing over the food and looked up to see James doing the same. (hehe Christian gal things)
When James finished saying his own prayer, he looked back up at me.
"If we ever do eat together again, let's bless the food twice as much and just pray together," James chuckled.
I laughed at his comment. "Double food blessings never hurt anybody before."
James laughed again.
"Your not wrong," James pointed to the food once more, "Try the food."
"Okay, but if it is not good, I am suing," I teased.
James' rich laughter filled my ears.
"Then, I would be in trouble."
I took my fork and knife and cut a spoon full of the fish. As the food moved closer to my mouth, James' eyes became bigger with anticipation.
The fish almost melted in my mouth while bursting with flavor at the same time. It was a complex and delicate mix of sour and salty. Absolutely delicious.
I placed the fork back on the plate and looked back up at James who's anticipated face went to one filled with worry. As if he cared what I thought about the food. Weird.
"This was extraordinarily," I began. The worry on James' face increased more because of my disgusted tone. "Delicious."
James began to chuckle again.
"Ada, you play too much," James smiled and began to eat his own food.

The night continued on like that. James and I crack jokes and eat delicious food. To my surprise, we had more in common than I had thought. From television to sports, James and I had at least one thing in common.
We were currently in the car, with James driving me back to my apartment.
"My mom tells me that you are in school to be a lawyer," James remarked.
"Yeah, I am in school right now, but I don't know how I am going to play some of the fees after some guy got me fired today," I turned to face James as he was driving and sighed.
"Ahah, Ada, I didn't know that you were one to hold a grudge. But yeah, I am sorry about that," James faced me for a bit while speaking. "I guess I was doing too much yesterday."
"At least you know," I faced forward in my seat and snickered.
"If it's any consolation, I can get you a job as an intern at my company."
I raised my eyebrows. Who was this guy because before he was the idiotic goat that got me fired, and here he is offering me a job?
"Sorry, sir, I don't take handouts, but I do make recommendations."
James started laughing again.
"Okay, then when you want to apply for a job again, tell me."
A few minutes of comfortable silence passed before we arrived at my apartment. James exited the car before I could unbuckle my seat belt and opened my door.
"James, I can't tell my mother that you are horrible and impolite when you do these kinds of things," I joked.
James chuckle reached my ears again as he stretched his arm behind me to close the door.
The height difference between James and me is surprisingly small. I am 5'8, so I am guessing that he is 6'2ish. I was just tall enough that my head was about at his shoulders.
"Well, maybe you won't have to tell your mother that," he whispered into my ear.
Um, chile, that wasn't the agreement.
I leaned forward beside James' ear and placed one hand on his back.
"James, don't tell me that you have already fallen for my charms," I softly spoke into his ear.
James' hands stroked my hair, which made the hair on my neck stand.
"Of course not, Ada, I am not that easy," James' husky voice whispered into my ears.
My body fell next to James in what I think is a disappointment. But what am I disappointed for? Ada, that wasn't the agreement.
James took a step back and lifted my chin so that my eyes were looking at his.
"How about this, we become dinner mates for the month. You and I have meals a couple of times this month simply to have fun. We would be making our parents happy and have a good time ourselves. Nothing romantic or serious, though."
"Hmm," I put my hand on my chin and stroked it like I was thinking, But what is there to think about? "I don't see anything wrong with a few free meals."
"It's settled then. How about next week Friday at five?" James asked.
"I'm free."
We stood facing each other for a few seconds before James spoke up.
"Should I walk you to the door, Ada," James proposed.
I shook my head and made a clicking sound with my mouth. I pinched the top of my nose and looked up at James.
"Please, I know that I am amazing, but if you spend this much time with me, you might actually start liking me," I mocked while still shaking my head.
James started laughing for the billionth time tonight.
"Ada, so nobody can be a gentleman around you anymore?"
"Ah," I locked my eyes with James's black sparkling one, "I guess if you feel so heavily compelled to do so, you may walk me to my door," I teased.
James laughed for the millionth and one time again.
"Luck for you, Ada," James locked the car door with his keys, "I do feel so strongly compelled to do so."
As we walked up the stairs, deep strained breaths reached my ears. I shifted my gaze from the apartment staircase to the man dressed in black in front of my door.
"Ada stepped back," James moved his arm in front of my body in a protective manner.
Who do I look like going forward anyway?
"May I ask who you are?" James inquired from the man.
The guy dressed in black started walking towards us quickly.
"Ada! What the heck is going on, Ada?" The dude dressed in black quickened his pace and decreased the distance between us.
"Ada," James turned his head and whispered to me, "Do you know this, man?"
"No," I murmured, "But I do know the police."
I took my phone out of my clout and dialed 911.
One ring. The guy was two doors away from James and me.
Two rings. One door away.
Three rings. The man was standing before James and me.
"911, what's your emergency?" The dispatcher asked in a calming voice.
"There is a man in front of my apartment calming that he knows me," I said conceivably into the phone.
"So you don't know me anymore, Ada?" The man in black stepped forward, so the hallway lights hit his face.
I could feel my heart drop to the floor as I recognized who the man was.

Oh my goodness it is a cliffhanger. But lets just dismiss the fact that it took me so long to get this chapter in. Till the next update,
Love, peace, and holy ghost
