Chapter 5

Rita's POV
So it's Tuesday morning. Veronica and I are already at school waiting in the parking lot for Jane and Eartha. I called both of them last night to come to school a little bit earlier than usual so we can tell them what's going on. I didn't want to tell them over the phone because this is such a serious matter.

"How do you think they are going to take it?" Veronica asked me

"I don't know. It's just so hard. We have never had to deal with something so serious like this." I said

"What's going on guys?" Jane asked walking up to us

"We have to wait for Eartha to come." Veronica said

After a couple of minutes Eartha finally shows up.

"Ok I'm here, what's happening?" Eartha asked

"Something happened yesterday to Natalie." Veronica said reluctantly

"Damnit Ronnie you are going to dragging this out! Robert slapped Natalie after school yesterday." I said

"Oh my god! Are you kidding me?" Eartha asked with shock in her voice.

"Now it all makes sense! That's why Natalie was crying yesterday!" Jane says

"She was crying yesterday?" Veronica asked

"Monty said that she was in tears during first period yesterday. Then after school I saw her at the diner with RJ and she seems pretty off." Jane explained

"She would barely look at me when I was talking to her and then she finally looked up and she looked like she had been crying." Jane continued.

"And that probably explains why Natalie wasn't herself at lunch." Eartha said

"What should we do? Should we say anything to Natalie?" Veronica asked.

"No not just yet. We don't know how she is going to react." I said.

"We can't just let this continue." Jane said

"Oh my gosh! I have an idea! How about we tell principle Barrymore anonymously. One of us just leaves a note in his office or something like that." Eartha said brainstorming.

"Ok we can do that. But how are we going to get the note into his office?" Veronica asked.

"I got it! Lana Turner is a T.A. in the office during 6th period. We just write the note and give it to her to put in the office." I said.

"Are you sure we can trust her?" Jane asked.

"Yes I'm sure. I'll just tell her at it's a life or death situation. I'm sure she'll understand." I added.

"She's in our first period. We can talk to her about it then". Veronica said.

"Ok that sounds like a perfect plan." Eartha said

"What sounds like a perfect plan?" Natalie asked walking up to us.

"Oh hey Natalie. How are you this morning?" Jane asked trying to change the subject.

"I'm ok, now get back to what you guys were talking about. I feel out the loop." Natalie said.

"Oh we were just talking about..." I was about to come up with some dumb story when the bell rings.

"Oh well the bell rung. We got to go to class. We see you at lunch Nat." Veronica said grabbing both mine and Jane's hands pulling us towards the building.

We now had a set plan. Let's just hope it works out.

Eartha's POV

I'm sitting in first period, trying to do this stupid chemistry worksheet. I can't focus on my work while the thoughts of this morning are spinning in my head.
