     He read tirelessly, day and night for the next four or five months, at one point getting so frustrated with how slow he was at learning common, went back to the library and got a book on learning common. After he finished reading that he went back to studying, though he was taking it much slower.

He noticed his common improving, but still angrily muttered in goblin. Crag, who used to spend days reading five pages, was starting to speed up. He would finish a chapter in two hours, and would sleep at night instead of studying.

After a year, he had read everything he could. He knew about as much as anyone in that city could know, although he knew that wasn't enough. He would try to pray everyday, even though he was usually cold and hungry. He had used up almost all of the gold he had taken, and had hardly any food left. He would sit and pray to his deity in hopes that he would be fed, or chosen to be a paladin.
