"Here is your quarters" one of the guards opened a small door. They stood on either side of it before we even entered the room. I nodded to them as I let myself in. The room was not an outside room. There were no windows. It was a white box with a room off to the side. A white bed, white couch. A tv sat on the wall.
"Welcome home, I guess" Mark shrugged. He plopped himself on the couch, "come here" he signalled for me to join him.
"I'm all wet" I complained. I really just wanted to change into dry clothes.
"That's alright" he shrugged again.
"Please can I just go get changed? It's been a long day, and I really just want some down time" I shook my head. Today really had crushed the light out of me. I didn't really listen to what Mark had to say. I just turned, going into the bathroom with some clothes I ripped out of the dresser. Again, they were white. It really bored me to see so much of such a bland colour. I then hung the shirt, then grew a raspberry bush out of the wall. I plucked the berries, smashing them in my hands before rubbing them against the shirt. I grew grass beneath my feet, plucking the blades, and rubbing them against the shirt. I took lilies from the ceiling, spreading their pollen on the now colourful shirt. Why stop at the shirt at this point? I had a small bounce in my step as I went back out of the bathroom. I centred myself in he room, and shut my eyes. Poinsettias, tiger lilies, marigolds, grass, morning glories, indigos, and violets. I had made a rainbow of the room. The flowers melded into each other's next colour. I stomped my foot and had rose bushes grow around it. I jumped, hitting the ground with an impact softened by petunias. Gladiolas sprouted off the lamp shade. Sweet peas bloomed around the couch. Amaranths spread around the bed.
All the while, Mark watched in amazement. I turned to him and lifted my hand. Around his head grew a crown of lotus flowers.
"Manly" Mark joked. He looked cute in it. How it bent his hair slightly where it had gone over, and the new brightness it gave his face. The pink of the flowers really contrasted his hair.
"They look nice on you" I shrugged.
"Jack, I'd like to show you something, if I could get Phoenix in here" he hinted. I raised an eyebrow. What a peculiar time to bring it up.
"I mean, uh yeah if you want to" I threw my arms up in the air. What else was I supposed to do? I wasn't going to crush his dreams.
"Perfect, because she should be arriving, just about..." he stared at the clock. Then there was a knock on the door.
"How did you know?" I asked him as I skipped around my plants to get to the door.
"I was told they'd bring back Gail at this time, and Phoenix just happens to have been the one babysitting" he smiled. I opened the door to be greeted by a wide eyed Gail and an equally happy Phoenix.
"Jack!" Gail exclaimed. She hopped over to me as if I were her father.
"Hey cutie, how was your day?" I asked her.
"Well it was fine, thanks for asking" Phoenix joked. She pushed her bright red hair behind her ear. I chuckled.
"Come in, Phoenix, Mark wanted to talk with you" I signalled for her to join.
"If you insist" she shyly came in. Gail had already made her way to Mark and was hugging him.
"Phoenix!" Mark shot up. He grinned at her.
"You wanted to talk to me, as I understand it?" She tilted her head.
"Uh yeah, I did. I wanted to show Jack that thing we can do" Mark walked over to her. He was also careful not to step on my flowers. In the corner, I was however paying attention to Gail, who was floating inches above the ground, admiring the flowers.
"Jack?" Phoenix brought my attention back to her. In front of me, Mark and Phoenix joined forms. Their new form had purple hair. It was feminine.
"I invite you to watch this, Jack" the form spoke. I had never really seen Mark in a female form. I had seen him with Felix, and that had been it. He didn't lend his trust sparingly. In the room, it suddenly started to become muggy. It was noticeably hotter. As it went on, a cloud formed. I watched in awe as the fluffy thing grew. Then, like a summers day, the cloud began raining soft drops in the room. Gail had floated up to see it. She was sure not to disrupt the small cloud.
"It's pretty, isn't it?" The form spoke.
"Do you have a name?" I asked. I spoke for Gail, who had seemed so confused as to where the other two people have gone.
"My name is Indra. It means possessing drops of rain. Or at least that's one of the translations" she smiled. I saw much of Mark in her. She had taken his beautiful brown eyes.
"Indra?" Gail spoke again.
"Yes. It is" she smiled at Gail. Gail floated up to her face. Gently, she cupped it. I don't believe Gail has ever seen a formation before.
"Where did you put Mark and Phoenix?" Gail pouted.
"I'm them, sweetheart. They're both me" Indra let Gail feel her face, as if Gail were blind.
"You are them?" Gail was having a hard time wrapping it around her head.
"Yes" Indra smiled once again. She went down to her knees to accommodate Gail's actual height.
"Can I do that too?" Gail asked.
"Well I do believe you can, but I do not know if you are old enough" Indra plucked a petunia, and placed it behind Gail's ear.
"I think she might be, actually. As long as she can trust, she should contain the power" I added in.
"Can I try Jack?" Gail skipped over to me. I was taken aback for a moment.
"Yeah, I don't see why not, it shouldn't do anything bad" I shrugged. I felt a bit awkward as Indra watched me. Gail jumped into my lap.
"How do I do this?" She cuddled into me.
"Well first, you have to trust me. Do you trust me?" Gail nodded her head to my question, "alright. Second, you have to just focus on making your body disappear into mine. Your magic will know what it's doing" I assured her. I didn't know how this was going to end up, in all honesty, but I may as well make her happy. A few quiet moments passed. I had let my form open to her, but she hadn't quite formed the ability to do this kind of magic yet. Or so I thought. I then felt her form meld into mine. It was odd, but I de-aged. Our form was a teenager. Brown hair with green tips at the end. She was a gorgeous form. For a moment, she struggled to figure out who she was. A child on one part, and an adult on the other.
"Hello" Indra waved her hand. Our form lifter her head, not quite sure how to do things yet.
"Hello" a song like voice echoed from her throat.
"Do you know your name?" Indra questioned. She stood, coming to our side. I encouraged our form to take Indra's hand.
"No" she responded.
"I'll say it's Tori. A simple name, and it means bird" Indra winked. Tori smiled at Indra.
"I like Tori" Tori shook off Indra's hand. Instead, she had learned the power she harnessed already, lifting herself off the ground, floating inches from it. Much like Marzia does.
"Well, Tori, would you like to come on a walk and explore this place?" Indra asked.
"Oh I would!" Tori exclaimed. I kept her to a level of coolness as Gail had attempted to take off.
"Well alright" Indra opened the door. Tori bounced with excitement. As we exited the room and into the hall, the guards followed us. It unsettled Tori. But as curious as she was, they didn't stop her. She zoomed ahead, dragging her fingers against every surface she could touch. All while Indra calmly walked behind us.
Tori didn't hesitate to burst through the glass doors at the entrance. She felt like a fairy, zooming off into the sky. The wind whirled her hair. She loved every moment. She loved being her. A teenager. I felt like that part was both Gail and I. I had missed the sensation and hope the teenage years had given me. Gail, on the other hand, couldn't wait to grow up.
