why don't we focus

" how do you guys find mary? " asked them jack once she left the house, curious to know what their thoughts about their new stylist.

" she's pretty somehow. " said jonah.
" you can see that she has a really good sense of style. "

" yeah, i agree." approved zach.

corbyn, daniel and jack nodded too.

" she seems to have her temper though. " observed corbyn. " the one that doesn't like to let it go and knows what she wants, you know? "

" me i found her funny. " stated jack. " i look forward to work with her. "

" yeah, me too. " concluded daniel, ending the conversation.

zach focus (short for the moment)

the brown haired boy was surprised of what corbyn said about mary. when the latter was with him, he thought that she was shy more than anything else. or mayhaps i'm wrong?
anyways, zach looked forward to work with mary, just like the other members.

i think she found me hot though. of course he wasn't sure but he still felt like she stared at him for a while. but he didn't find it awkward. he obviously found it unusual but definitely not unpleasant. he didn't pay a lot of attention to her but now that he thought about her, it was true that she was quite hot. but he didn't have a crush on her, he just found her beautiful and that was pretty much it.

mary wanted to kill herself for having stuttered in front of zach. i really need to calm down. she didn't want him to think that she was fantasizing or crushing hard on him. i mean, it's only our first encounter. mary had to think about a way to get to know him without showing too much interest - which wasn't as easy as it seemed.
her first week started and mary could say that it was pretty interesting. she got along with the boys really well and didn't talk to them, developing more than just a working relationship. she enjoyed talking with them about literally everything and felt like she knew them more now.

she started early in the morning to finish late at night and one week literally felt like three. she found out that corbyn and jonah had girlfriends while the other members didn't, which was interesting because it meant that zach was free. since their encounter, mary and zach didn't talk unless it was inevitable. not because they didn't get along but actually because mary just didn't know how to talk to him. she wanted to have his attention also wanted to stay natural and ended up trying nothing out because she was too scared zach would judge her or find her weird. but why would think that? i usually don't care about what people say. yes, but this time it was zach and zach wasn't like "other people".

why don't we focus

it was friday night and mary and the boyz were sitting in a pizzeria, eating like crazy (especially jonah who already bought his third pizza).
mary was casually talking to jack until a girl came and interrupted them, popping out of nowhere.

" hey, i know you! you're why don't we, the guys who don't know the word 'talent'. "

boys rolled their eyes, used to this kind of immature people. normally, they just wouldn't have answered to that girl. but it was normally. you guys probably guessed that mary wouldn't stand still, right?
" hey, you, listen to me. make money while doing what you love and have several millions of fan-girls through the world, and then you'll be able to talk to them. i don't think you're so successful right now, so you can just shut up and leave them alone. "
she said dryly but still keeping a calm voice. mary actually did right - the girl was lost for arguments and left them wordlessly, seemingly upset. mary was proud of herself.

" woah, you have a good sense of repartee. " congratulated her corbyn, impressed.

" yeah, thank you, mary. " added zach, a little smile growing on his face.

his glare tho. but mary had to keep calm if she wanted to be discreet. BUT ZACH SMILED AT ME. " you're welcome. usually, i rarely defend people but i really wanted to put this girl in her place. " look, i can talk to zach without even stuttering.

" so usually, you're selfish? " asked her jonah, turning to her.

" yes, i'm a little like a bitch, but that's not what i used to be " mary wasn't going to talk about her difficult past but she still felt like they needed to know some things because she didn't want to leave a bad impression of herself.

" what happened to you? did you come through something difficult? "
daniel got il all. mary wasn't wrong when she thought that he was smart.

" yeah, but i don't want to talk about it " answered mary with a tone which made them understand that she wouldn't say anything else about her.

" but, wait... if you're a bad bitch, why are you so nice with us? "jack's curiosity amused mary.

" maybe because you're all mature. i may have my temper, but if you're nice with me, i'll be nice with you
too. "

.

the rest of the dinner went pretty well and mary really enjoyed talking with the boys about random things and listening to them talk about their lives. they were in their way back home and everyone just sat in the car wordlessly, tired of the long and exhausting week. a few minutes later, the driver made a stop in front of mary's building as corbyn asked her " hey, mary, we're going to a party tomorrow. wanna come with us? "

" hmm lemme think... " mary began to appreciate them and in addition, this party could be an opportunity to get closer to zach. mary looked back at corbyn and nodded. " yeah, i'd like to. can i come with my best friend? "

" sure ! "

" bye, guys. it was really fun today! " said mary as she got out of the car before adding with a wink " oh, and don't forget to dress appropriately tomorrow! "

" bye, mary! we will " answered zach, smiling - but mary could swear that she saw a smirk. ok zach i don't like you but if you keep doing this... well i don't wanna imagine.
