Lily's POV

The party ended at 11.30 pm. Everyone was leaving, without even protesting. They all greeted us, wishing us a good night, and left.

"Lily," Marianne cupped my face. "Remember, you are her one true love. You can do it."

That puzzled me. "I can do what?"

Marianne smiled sympathetically and then left. Esmee hugged us both and joined Marianne.

When everyone was gone, Catherine held my hand. "Ready for our first night together as a married couple?"

I smiled. "I am, I'm pretty tired."

"Mhm." Catherine smiled, she seemed to think about something.

"Where's our car though?" I asked, looking at the empty car park in front of the BC building. "I don't see Peter either."

"We're not going home yet," Catherine suddenly said. "We're sleeping here," She pulled me inside the building again. "In the honeymoon suite."

"The honeymoon suite?"

Catherine nodded as she pulled me with her up the many stairs to the top floor. This truly was a weird building. It had 4 floors. Floor one was where the wedding was held; floor two was where several meeting rooms were; floor three was where several rooms for leisure activities were; and the top floor was where the honeymoon suite was. Such a weird building.

"Why is there only one room on this entire floor?"

Catherine shrugged. "It's been like this for centuries," She said as she opened the door for me. "Enjoy."

I entered and saw basically a lover's den. There was a beautiful white and red canopy bed (see picture), decorated with red curtains on the side. In the corner of the room, there was a jacuzzi, surrounded with candles. There was also a huge tv, with romantic movies on the side.

"And," Catherine asked as she held me from behind. "Do you like it?"

"Of course," I couldn't believe we'd spend the night here. "Wow..."

Catherine smiled as she walked to the bed. She went to lay down on it. "Ah, perfect!"

I laid down next to her and smiled. "It's a perfect bed indeed," I then looked at the curtains again. "And so romantic."

"Yeah," Catherine then laid on her back, her arms behind her head. "Perfect for tonight."

I nodded. This room was amazing, so perfect. I bet our night would be perfect, but there were a few things on my mind. "Marianne said something before she left," I started, gaining Catherine's attention. "She said that I'm your one true love and that I can do it." I looked at Catherine. "What does that mean?"

Catherine sighed. Then she gulped. "It's a tradition."

"What kind of tradition?" I then thought about what had happened during the wedding. "And why did we cut our hands?" I asked, looking at the bandage around my hand. "And why did I have to pledge myself and my life to you?"

Catherine sighed and got up. "To which of those questions do you want an answer?" She walked to the door.

"All of them," I got up as well. "I want to understand." I then noticed Catherine locking the door. "Why did you lock the door?"

Catherine turned back around. "Lily," She walked to me. "You know I want to be honest with you."

"Then do so," I sighed. "Please."

Catherine nodded, suddenly she became serious. "We cut our hands so the document of our marriage is official for my kind as well. Blood is always a way to make things connect, to make things official."

I nodded. "But our hands touched, our blood mixed."

"Yes."

"So won't that turn me into one of your kind?"

Catherine smiled a bit. "No, I have to inject you with my blood for that. When we held hands, our blood simply touched, it wasn't nearly enough to turn you."

I nodded again. "Why did I have to pledge myself and my life to you?"

"It's something all of my people have to do. They swear their loyalty to me, to my bloodline."

"But why pledge my life?"

Catherine didn't seem pleased with my question. "The BC had to know you'd pledge yourself and your life to me, to our kind. They had to know for sure you'd be loyal to us."

"But they know I am," I smiled, wrapping my arms around Catherine's neck. "We've got a child together, they know that."

Catherine nodded. "They just needed to hear that," She wrapped her arms around my waist. "It's a formality."

"Ok." I smiled a bit. "And how about Marianne? What did she mean when she said I am your one true love, and that I can do it?"

Catherine sighed, she looked down. "I..." She sighed. "It's a tradition."

"What tradition?"

Catherine kept looking down. "It's like a test."

"A test?" I was so confused. "What kind of test?"

Catherine breathed out deeply. "To see if you truly are my one true love, to see if you really are the one for me."

"But I am your wife, I got pregnant." I tried looking at Catherine's face, but she wouldn't look at me. "Isn't that the proof you looked for?"

Before Catherine could answer, a clock chimed midnight.

"It's midnight already?" I asked but didn't expect an answer to that question. I looked back at Catherine. She didn't look well. She kept looking down but her posture had changed drastically. "Catherine?"

Suddenly she looked up, her eyes were blood red, and I knew what that meant.

I gulped, trying to stay calm. "Shall we go lay down in bed?" I asked but knew I wouldn't get an answer.

I released Catherine and got undressed, out of my dress. I looked at her and noticed she was doing the same thing.

"Come," I motioned her to follow me. "Let's lay in bed."

I laid down and saw Catherine's Vamrin form climb over me, it was clear this form was checking me out. Even though I had encountered this form countless times, it always seemed to forget who I was. It needed to 'discover' me again.

I smiled as I wrapped my arms around her. "I loved today," I said, pretending to be talking to Catherine. I knew this form wouldn't answer me, but I had to show this form that I was indeed her true love. "I love you, all of you."

The form came closer, smelling me. I immediately presented my neck, knowing Catherine's bite mark would show this form I was hers already.

The form seemed to recognize me and relaxed, laying down on top of me.

I smiled as I wrapped my arms around her. "Goodnight, Catherine." I whispered and kissed the side of this form. I love you, I thought. I'll say that more in the morning, to my Catherine.
