Lily's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night. Once again I felt worried, I was frozen in place. And I feared for my life, again.

I closed my eyes, I didn't want to see the monster. I didn't want to trigger it. I just wanted it to leave me alone.

Then I felt the bed move, the sheets were moving off of me.

I gulped, I started shaking softly. It was so cold, I was so cold. Yet I didn't dare to reach for the sheets, to cover me again. I knew that, if I did, the monster would attack me.

Then an arm pulled me away and I screamed.

"Lily," I opened my eyes and saw Catherine look at me. "Hey, are you ok?"

I started crying, I was so scared.

"Hey," She pulled me into her and pulled the sheets over us again. "It's ok."

I nuzzled my face deep in her chest. I wanted to feel her warmth, I wanted to feel safe, I wanted to feel alright. But I couldn't seem to feel any of those things.

Catherine was holding on tight to me. She had wrapped all her limbs around me, as if keeping me safe in a cocoon. She didn't say anything, she simply let me calm down and kissed me from time to time.

When I had calmed down completely, I pulled back a bit to look at her.

"There you are," She caressed my face. "What happened?"

I gulped. "I thought you had changed."

She raised her eyebrows. "Why did you think so?"

"Because I woke up in the middle of the night, and the bed was moving and the sheets were taken off of me," I then looked down, new tears started forming in my eyes. "I just thought you had changed."

"I didn't change," She said, which was obvious. "I simply went to the bathroom."

"I'm sorry."

"Why? You didn't do anything wrong," She paused before saying. "Come," She then laid down on her back and pulled me on top of her, so half of my body would be resting on hers. "There you go," She looked at me, laying on her chest. "Is that better?"

I smiled and slowly nodded. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, haewa."

The next morning, I woke up and instantly smiled. I was still laying on Catherine's chest, which means that nothing bad had happened during the remainder of the night.

"Good morning, haewa."

I looked up at Catherine. "Good morning, haewa."

Catherine pulled me closer so I was now laying onto her body completely. "How are you feeling?"

I smiled, it made me feel really good to see that Catherine was so compassionate. She really cared about how I felt despite everything not being her fault. "I'm better."

"That's good," She smiled as she wrapped her arms around my waist. It was weird being on top, it's like I was in charge now. Maybe Catherine wanted to show me that she doesn't want to be more powerful than me. "Why don't we do something together?"

"Just the two of us?"

Catherine nodded.

I then looked away. My thoughts immediately went to Emily. Who'd take care of her if Catherine and I are gone?

"I know you don't like leaving Emily behind, but we've got great people working for us. They watched her during our wedding."

"I know," I looked away. "I just feel bad about leaving her."

Catherine sat up which made me sit down on her lap. "We are allowed to have some private time, just the two of us."

I sighed but nodded.

"I'll ask Marianne to watch her," She then made me look at her. "What do you think?"

I looked at her and saw her show me an exciting smile, she really wanted this day between us. And who was I to deny her that, perhaps this day together was all we needed. "Ok."

Catherine smiled. "I can't wait," She kissed my lips before getting out of bed. "I'll go tell Marianne, you can get ready."

I nodded and watched Catherine leave.

I sighed and got up. I got dressed pretty fast and immediately made my way to Emily's room. I entered and noticed her still sleeping.

I slowly walked to her bed and sat down on it. I then smiled as I watched my own daughter sleep. Sometimes I still couldn't believe that I had a daughter, it felt so surreal. Yet here she was, my little angel.

Emily seemed to feel my presence because she woke up suddenly. "Mommy!" She sat up and hugged me.

"Good morning, honey," I kissed her head a few times. "How did you sleep?"

"Good," She then looked around the room, as if looking for something. Then she looked at me. "Where zaezzes?"

"She'll be right here," I then looked down. "Honey, I've got to tell you something," I looked back at her and noticed her look at me with a look of wonder. "Today, you'll spend the day with Mari."

Emily's facial expressions changed from wonder to sadness. "Where you?"

"Zaezzes and I will be going out together," I couldn't help but feel bad about this. Especially with Emily looking so sad at me... "But we'll spend time with you tomorrow, ok?"

Emily nodded but was visibly upset by the news.

"Good morning, hianag," Catherine had entered the room, smiling like crazy. It was clear she was excited about today, unlike Emily and I. When she noticed Emily being upset, she dropped her smile. "What's wrong?"

I looked at Catherine, giving her a look.

Catherine seemed to understand it and sat down on Emily's bed as well. "Don't be sad, hianag," She said as she caressed Emily's little cheek. "Your mommy and I simply need some time together. But that doesn't mean we don't love you," She said to which Emily looked up, the look in her eyes had changed. "We love you so much, you know that, right?"

Emily nodded, then a small smile appeared on her face. "Love you."

I smiled at the sight in front of me. Finally, Catherine showed some love and support towards Emily. I think Emily really needed that.

Emily then looked at me. "Love you."

"I love you too, honey," I hugged her tightly. "So much."

Catherine got up and nodded at me. "We've got to go," She said to which Emily looked at her again. "Mari will take care of you today, ok?"

Emily nodded.

"We'll see you tonight," Catherine leaned down to plant a few kisses on Emily's head. "I love you, hianag."

I did the same and kissed her a few times as well. "I love you too, honey."

And so Catherine and I prepared for our day out, together. Catherine had prepared her personal car, alias 'The tank', and was waiting for me in it.

I walked to the car but couldn't help to look back at the house a couple of times. Emily, in Marianne's arms, was waving at us from the front door. It broke my heart to see like that, I felt like I was abandoning her, while I knew I wasn't. It was still hard.

When I had entered the car, Catherine drove off immediately. I kept looking back and waving at Emily until she eventually disappeared out of sight.
