Chapter 3 -Entrance exams and secrets reviled

Alex's/ Max's pov.

We were having a meeting today and I was so glad that it was a brake from those little tv's. I always hated tv's when I was little mostly because Max wanted to play sports so I joined him not wanting to be away from my twin. I yawn as I listen to him talk and came to the realization that I hadn't heard from Billings, Summers, Thomson or Potter in the last few days. I look down at my phone and realize that it was dead. I also realized that I needed to change my cloths and there was a pain in my lower stomach. I was taking that stupid entrance exam per L and Yagami's request in a few days. Just my luck the biggest test of my young life, pretending to be a man when on your period and you live with a super genius. I was worried about my cover being blown soon. Two days later I was heading to the exams and L had decided to tag along I was to call him Ryuzaki today and every time I was around Light.

When I get there to take the test I was seated seven rows back and to the right of Light but his eyes lock on me the moment he walked in. I could feel him look me over and see the amusement dancing in his eyes when he sees me. This was just great and I was so lucky to be here, yeah right. I shake my head and wait for the test to start before looking over the questions, which were rather easy to tell you the truth. I waited until there was only three minutes left in the test to answer the questions and put the last period on my last answer as time was called. Child's play really and I wanted to head to the coffee shop near here now that we were done for a cup of Chi tea and a big chocolate chip muffin. I stretch a little as I stand and hear a satisfying crack of my lower back before turning in my test. Light was right next to me and his arm brushes against mine as we stood together. "I'm Light would you like to get some coffee?" He asks and I smirk a little knowing L might be listening to me. "Max and I would like that. I need a few friends to help me out." I say and he looks shocked before giving me a smirk. I had refused to let L bug me before we left and flat out told him it was never going to happen. I walk by his side to the coffee shop and he asks me what I want before getting it.

Light's pov.

I was pleasantly surprised when I see Max sitting in the entrance exams but was secretly happy to see him there. Once the test was done I decided to play along with the not knowing him thing like he asked so I introduced myself in Japanese like any normal person would. I was shocked when he talked back to me in Japanese. After getting our drinks and food I sat across from him before sliding the money across the table to him. "Dinner that night was on me here is your money back." I say and he sighs before taking the money. We were both careful to make sure no one saw this exchange before he gives me a look. "Glad to know we are friends now Light." Max says in a light and easy tone but I was having a hard time not looking at him in shock. "We can be best friends even. You should come over for dinner soon." I say because I really wanted him to come over and he thought it over before nodding slowly. "I would like that. It would be nice to have a home cooked meal. I haven't had one in a year now." Max says slowly making me wonder what his life was like. "So have you always been able to talk in Japanese or did you learn just to talk with me?" I ask in a teasing and light hearted tone. Max chuckled before looking me over slowly. "Always have been. I was asked not to when I ran into people here. It's better to be underestimated then over. So how do you think you did?" Max asks and I smirk at him. "I will be top of our class." I say and he laughs.

"Did you take the whole test time to answer. I waited until the last three minutes to answer." Max says before he starts to eat his muffin. We talk for a while longer and I invite him over tonight to eat dinner hoping that my dad will be home to meet this man who was so like me. We walked and once home my mom and sister looked shocked at Max who still had his hat on his head hiding his amazing hair. I was finally admitting that I had feelings for Max and there were a little romantic which was odd for me because he was a man. "Mom, Sayu this is Max. I meet him at the exams and I think he might have tied with me in scores for the exams." I say and Max bows a little. "Nice to meet you my name is Maximum Miller. Please call me Max." Max says before looking up at my mom and sister who both had dazed looks in their eyes. "Light you never told me that you had a hot American friend." Sayu says and I shrug my shoulders. "No hats." Mom scolds in a playful tone and Max pulls his hat off letting his blond hair fall down and I could see the Midnight blue was starting to faid a little in his hair. "Like way cool." Sayu says and I roll my eyes at her. "Max and I are going to my room now. I asked him to stay for dinner I hope you don't mind mom." I say and mom nods before giving Max another big smile.
