CHAPTER 8

Tonight Reigen was going to appear on national TV to prove he could exorcise and talk to spirits. You were very nervous about what was going to happen and asked Reigen if he wanted you to be there, to which he said no. Truth is, he didn't even want you to watch the program, he just felt like he was going to let you down. His feelings towards you kept on growing during the last days but he kept on hiding them. You hadn't noticed a thing though.

That night you prepared a cup of instant noodles and sat on your sofa to watch the program. You turned on the tv and saw Reigen next to the host. He looked pretty calm which you kinda made you feel a bit better.
The host interviewed him about his job and asked him a few questions about con artists. Reigen kept his cool and answered naturally but suddenly the host turned to the audience,
"So, are you ready ladies and gentlemen? We want to prove Reigens san abilities so we brought a demonized man!"
A big door from the background of the stage opens and two guards show up, bringing a table with a man laying on it handcuffed. Reigen doesnt seem surprised at all and looks confident.
The man starts making weird movements trying to set himself free and meanwhile some people in the audience get up and try to leave. The host suggests Reigen to start, "Don't worry! Leave it to me!".
He approaches the demonized man and starts whispering things to him. The audience falls silent and watch Reigen curiously. Suddenly he takes a bag of salt from under his jacket and screams  "PURIFYING SALT PUNCH". He punches the man directly in the guts and the guy falls unconscious. Reigen smiles to the audience and shows a V sign in front of the camera. Some claps were heard until the host cut them, "Ladies and gentlemen, as we expected, this man has no powers at all. Hes just a con artist! The guy he just punched wasn't demonized at all, he was an actor!" , "WHAT?!" you shout.
You couldn't believe it, it was a trap from the beginning.
The audience start booing at Reigen, who looks rather confused.
You felt so bad for him, you turned off the TV, took your jacket and went out.
You needed to see Reigen as soon as possible so you went to the office to try to search for a direction of his house. You found a picture of an old apartment in a google map and guessed it was his place.
You walked there and to your surprise it took you longer than expected. By the time you arrived Reigen was probably home. You knocked on his door and waited for him to open. You hears some steeps approaching and finally he opens it. He looked depressed as if he was dead inside. You didn't let him say anything you just walked in and hugged him tight.
You feel his arms slowly coming around your waist and pulling you closer. He hides his face in your neck and you could feel the tears in his eyes, "I'm so sorry y/n"
