Rubble, dust, blood.

It scattered the land like paint being thrown carelessly on a plain canvas. The blood ran down the streets and down drains, rubble and dust was everywhere, no place was untouched.

Ash, bodies, sweat.

The air was contaminated with the unforgettable smell of gas, smoke, blood. The list went on as more and more problems pilled themselves onto Alpha Yongguk's pack, most commonly known as the white Hope pack. They'd gotten the name through their alpha's hopefulness towards the world, and how he'd take in anyone who needed help, a home and quite ironically, hope.

What a sorry sight it was now.

Death filled the air, and everyone knew there was only worse to come. Alpha Shownu's pack had attacked early in the morning, it was now midday , the search for the injured, missing or dead had started a few hours previous but hadn't gone so far. This is what happened in severe alpha attacks, people went missing, people died, yet nobody ever expects it to happen to them.

"Help! Somebody help!"

"Where's the elite squad? Why haven't they got to us yet!"

"There's two buildings on fire down the street stay back everyone!"

Shouts, cries and screams filled the air. People had started coming back from safe places such as the forest where everyone had fled a few hours previous. Distress was lurking around every corner for everyone, and hope was the main thing the white Hope pack needed in this terrible time.

"KIHYUN! YOUNGJAE!" Minhyuk ran down the rubble covered streets that crunched under foot. The heat off the fire and smoke was almost suffocating to the Beta, who'd managed to flee to the surrounding forest with around a quarter of the main pack. He'd regretted even sending Kihyun off that morning, yet alone letting Youngjae run off to go find him when the first stages of the attack broke out.

"God please let them be okay" He said through gritted teeth, tears streaming down his face as he headed further and further into the destruction.

Jooheon shook still in the middle of the burned out street. He was near the center of the packs village, where all the small shops and main community hub was. He had to admit, the damage could be repaired easily, and most the houses on the outskirts hadn't suffered as much damage as the houses and shops to the center. Yongguk's house and the main base wasn't far from the village, he'd have to report back in a few minutes now he'd taken out all the hostile rouge wolves that had entered the land. But something played on the betas mind. He looked across the streets lined with rubble and noticed the newspapers that had blew and scattered across the ground. He picked one up that hadn't been burned or ripped and started reading the front pages contents.

'nearby packs are in discussions about impending alpha attacks in the bid to find the top alphas their mates'

Jooheon gritted his teeth, his grip on the fragile paper forced it to rip into pieces. This is why they'd been attacked, just so some hotheaded young Alpha's like Alpha Shownu could get their mates and ascend more into power? What was the point? Why couldn't they live peacefully and in harmony like Alpha Youngguk and Luna Himchan?

And yet through all the destruction the beta couldn't help but think that Shownu had got what he'd came for.

"Why didn't you fight back!" Seungcheol yelled at his Alpha, not that he wanted to, yet he had to. Sat there with another ghastly mark now across the side of his face, the Beta could only hope that the next wound wouldn't lead him to his own stupid reckless death. Youngguk simply remained seated at his chair in his office in his home and base, a worried sick Himchan holding his hand firm next to him. Shownu had gone through with his plan, he'd gone straight to Youngguk's front door and made sure he wouldn't follow or stop him.

"He's too powerful now, I could sense it on him that he'd already found his mate" the alpha sighed heavily, causing Seungcheol to start pacing up and down.

"Alpha, as lead Beta of your elite I'm also your adviser, and I suggest we should do something about these bastards!" Seungcheol burst in a fit or temper, slamming his hand on the desk in frustration. Himchan only shook his head, knowing the passion Seungcheol was displaying and the cause he wanted to fight for were both perfectly great things. He should have been an Alpha, it was in his nature, yet a fine powerful Beta he'd be.

"Cheol, you know the packs suffered quite a bad hit already, going after Shownu now would only jeopardize the whole pack. For all we know if we attacked no one would make it until tomorrow" Youngguk explained rather too calmly, causing the Beta to stop pacing and change his position to sitting on the nearest chair he could see.

Youngguk knew he was angry, and mostly he was petrified.
"How's Jeonghan" He asked with sympathy, he knew outside he was trying to stay strong, but inside he was slowly breaking. It was only when he didn't answer a more calming voice came to his aid.

"Sweetie, I'm sure he's going to be fine. The medics are looking after him well and with the cleanup going to start soon, everything's going to be fine" Himchan said in a soothing tone, he felt the tension off the Beta fade slightly and Seungcheol gave out a sigh mimicking the Alphas a few minutes previous. The room itself started to grow silent for a few minutes, that's until two more familiar faces entered the room.

"Sorry I'm late, I picked up this one on route" Jooheon said as Jongup followed suite. Both Betas pulled a seat up next to Seungcheol and sat before their Alpha.

"I'm guessing the rest of the elite are still out?" Their Alpha asked earning an arrangement of nods.

"Good, now we wait" he said again, leaning back in his chair as maids rushed into the room and started cleaning wounds and prescribing medicine.

"Wait for what?" Jooheon inquired, shooting a look at both the confused Jongup and Seungcheol.

"The other elites and defense are counting people and making reports of the missing and dead" the Alpha said, the remorse in his voice came through loud and clear.

"You three and me will take the missing list and we'll be searching to find them until one is left" he said, the tone in his voice now becoming very serious.

"And why's that?" Jongup questioned as his peers looked on.

"Because one of those missing will be Alpha Shownu's mate, and we need to find out who he's taken from us."
