The Twisty Cave
As little Lacey walked down the caves twists and turns, she realized the amethyst she was holding had begun to shine. It's rims sparkled in gold, and before Lacey knew it, her feet had a mind of their own! They pulled her, dragging her through curves until she'd reached a small cave, no bigger than a tree.
She crept inside, her curiosity getting the best of her. There, in front of her was a wrapped scroll. She took it out of the wrap, and opened it. "Whoa..." she gasped. Lacey could read! She could read the scroll, clearly and carefully.
At the edge of the world, a star comes alive. It flies down to twirl, and back and forth it dives. The girl she grasps it, playfully, happily, and the power it surges, in her blood, bones as it unfurls. It slithers a path, sparks of magic enlighten, as she makes her way down to the wrath." Lacey stopped reading, and she held herself steadily.
The cave seemed to be spinning, twirling and twisting around. Lacey took her bag, the one carved out of wood that she always kept with her. She'd covered it with a beautiful shred of fabric that she'd found hanging on the trees.
She slipped the scroll in, pulled the bag on herself and held her breath. The world, it was fainting away. The walls were closing in. She could feel herself losing the air, losing her life. The slow painful death, it lasted long. And then suddenly, it pulled back. Lacey managed to put the amethyst in her bag, and she paused.
"What was that?" She wondered out aloud. And then she stared. She stared right into the depths of darkness itself, deep deep below. The edge of the black pond were made out of pottery, something not naturally found here in the woods, as far as Lacey knew.
She could feel herself slipping from the truth, the real world.
But she knew what she had to do. Almost as if it was her destiny. Did she understand anything that was going on around her? Oh no... she'd never understand. Not until she knew the truth.
Lacey closed her eyes, trusting the amethyst out of her bag, and without any hesitation she dipped it into the black pond.
