The Message
Lacey paused for a moment. "Astiana Ronicale?!" she mouthed a wow. Katherine had screamed the name, 'Astiana' before she'd disappeared in the mist.

And it was Katherine Ronicale. The Lady Of Mist was Katherine's sister?! "Yes child, that's what I said..." Astiana looked at Lacey as if she were deaf.

"So... where is my friend?" Lacey demanded. "The misty hand must've taken her for a ride. She loves picking up people and showing them the mist," Astiana explained.

Lacey cocked her head, giving the Lady Of Mist a questioning look.

Astiana sighed and beckoned Lacey to follow her. As they started walking away from the Truth Shore, they reached the door. "Open the door to leave Truth Shore!" The Lady Of Mist incanted.

The door opened, and Lacey followed Astiana as she walked into the foggy mist. It was getting darker now, and far more wet.

Colder, even. Lacey noticed that Astiana seemed to be worried by the difference of the mist. "It is darkness... and it's spreading," she murmured.

Astiana then stopped, and called out a name. "Malia!"

The cold hand greeted Astiana from the mist. As it came closer, Lacey saw the person held in its clutches. Katherine.

The hand dropped Katherine, who ran to Lacey and hugged her. Then, she saw Astiana. "Tia..." she said, her voice with a pinch of sarcasm. "Kathy," Astiana murmured.

"I'm sorry... for everything. Lacey showed me a better path. She's sweet... and I think I'd like to follow that. Will you help me?" The Lady Of Mist extended her hand. Katherine eyed Lacey, who nodded, and then she hugged Astiana.

As soon as they touched, a bright light spread around them. It eliminated the dark mist, causing the misty hand to turn into a normal dog, and Astiana into a normal human. She looked completely like Katherine, except her hair was longer.

"You took Malia!" Katherine shook her head. "How dare you steal our dog?!"

The bright light slowly moved towards a normal spot of blue sky. It shined, and then disappeared into sparkles. Between the sparkles, a beautiful bird dived towards Lacey.

Fastened around it's neck, a piece of string lay. Wound between the strings, a paper with something written on it came to view. The bird dropped itself below at Lacey's feet. Lacey knelt down and took the paper. She read it, then read it out loud.

"Get the flash, return to Mainslash, save humanity, proof of responsibility. If you fail, I'll form hail, death and damage, surely a bad passage."

Katherine looked at the paper. "Very smart... they cut out newspaper letters and pasted them so nobody could identify the writing," she murmured. Astiana looked at Katherine skeptically. "Oh, right. Death... it's an enemy," Katherine said.

"So... I think it's time we get the flash. Agreed?" Lacey's voice was shaky. Of course she was scared. She might die and the hail in this world could be death causing!

Katherine held Lacey's hand, to remind her that they were doing this together. Astiana nodded at the dog, who bounded off to a cottage nearby. The mist had been exchanged for a warm cottage as Astiana's home. She walked to Lacey, and smiled.

"I'm here too," she took Lacey's hand, and for the first time, Lacey had a happy ending.
