"We need to talk."
Shay sits across from me, folds her arms over her chest as she leans back against the seat.
"What's wrong?" I ask wearily, my mind replaying memories of the mystery man. She leans forward on her elbows, motioning me closer. My body follows the command out of pure curiosity.
"There is a friend of mine that is interested in you." Her words peak my curiosity even more. How could anyone be interested in me?
"Who?" I ask looking around for said person. She chuckles shaking her head at me, she leans back in her chair.
"Don't bother....he left.' She shrugs gently, her eyes burn into my face as I glance back at her.
"His name is Roland Steele. He wanted me to find out if you were seeing anyone." I think for a moment, unsure of what to say.
"No, I'm not with anyone." Her head bobs, taking a sip out of her bottle. "Uh, who is Roland Steele?" I ask taking another drink from my cup.
"Good. You'll find out soon enough." She sighed with a shake of her head. "He told me to tell you to wait for a call. He'll be in touch." Her hands find her phone, and she begans typing away with her slender fingers.
"How exactly? He...uh..he didn't get my number." I ask taking another swig from my cup. Her eyes shoot over to me with a quick smirk.
"I gave it to him." She stated, placing the phone back in her bra. "Just so you know, he isn't someone that you should get involved with." Her warning sent a shiver down my spine.
Some how I knew that I shouldn't, but I couldn't help myself.

My phone vibrates on the counter top of my kitchen. Here I was sitting in my kitchen, in my sleep shorts and a giant t-shirt, studying for my test I had on Friday. My hair thrown into a messy bun, I grumble as I reach for the noisy phone.
Unknown Number
I reluctantly swipe green to answer, sending a tired 'Hello' into the speaker. My eyes raking over the sheet of paper in front of me, cautiously highlighting a sentence to remember.
"Berit?" A heavenly Northern tone hit my ears and I immediately stop what I'm doing. "May I ask who is calling?" I ask closing my text book quickly, my nerves were getting the best of me.
A breathless chuckle rings in my ears. "A friend of Shay's." The humor in the deep voice catches my attention and my brain goes into over drive.
"What friend of Shay's?" My tone came out sharp, inpatients rising to the surface. A scoff rang through the phone, before a humor filled voice spoke. "I can't believe she didn't tell you about me."
Who in the hell is calling me? Why am I even continuing this conversation?
"It's Roland." The name triggered my memory if the night at the bar. Shay had told me of him, he was interested in me.
"Oh, um.....yeah. Shay did mention you." I stutter out, embarrassed that I couldn't even speak to him properly. "She said that you were gonna call." I mumbled awkwardly into the phone, my hand smacked my forehead at how shy I sounded.
"Yeah. I wanted to see if you were interested in meeting with me." It was a statement, a hint of hope lingering as if to ask a question.
"Where exactly were you wanting to meet?" I ask checking the time on my phone.
