ashley benson as abigail thatcher
"hey, james!" abby called out as ran up to to him on the sidewalk. she splashed through a small puddle as she looked to her close friend.
"hey, abby!" james excitedly grinning from ear to ear as the beautiful, blonde, bubbly girl skipped over to him on the pavement in the busy city of brooklyn. she quickly crossed the street and fell into step with him.
"oh my goodness! i barely recognized you!" abby looked up and down at his new, green clothes and started thinking about how good the brunet boy looked in his soldier uniform. he smirked at her reaction to seeing him and smiled.
"you like?" james wiggled his eyebrows at her and did a small spin for her. abby started laughing as they continued walking down the sidewalk. james opened his mouth to say something but abby stopped when she heard a metal bang. the pair raced over to the next alley and saw someone punching steve rogers, their best friend. james immediately turned the guy around to face him.
"pick on someone your own size!" james said as abby held back a laugh at the remark. while james punched the jerk, abby rushed over to help steve stand and make sure he was okay. after the kid ran away, everyone all stood up and started walking down the sidewalk.
"sometimes, i think you like getting punched," abby said as she laughed lightly as the trio walked down the sidewalk. steve shook his head.
"i had him on the ropes," steve shook his head, not very confidently. abby sympathetically patted his shoulders as james gave him a look that said, i'm sure you did, steve.
"well, guess what we're going to?" james excitedly asked. he was so adorable when he was excited. he jumped up and down like a school girl with a crush and smiled that gorgeous smile. his stiff hair bounced with him as he happily skipped around. when james was genuinely happy, abby thought he was the most adorable human being ever.
"haha, don't you think so abby?" james asked, amused. abby snapped out of her daze and realized they had continued the conversation while she was daydreaming.
"oh yeah, yeah, you're so right. people who disagree are idiots, you know?" abby tended to ramble when she was nervous. steve looked slightly disappointed and confused as he looked between the her and james. james' expression changed from confused frown to a cocky smirk.
"oh, really?" james asked in a flirtatious tone. he walked toward the confused girl which caused her to become slightly uncomfortable and hide behind steve. not that it did much good as abby was a few inches taller than the skinny blond.
"relax, buck." steve said slightly annoyed, but still amused at the situation. he turned to abby, who's cheeks were tinted pink. "do you even know what we were talking about?"
"not really, i was sorta distracted," she laughed lightly and her face turned a pastel shade of pink. james moved closer to abby and she looked at him uncomfortably as he asked. "what was distracting you?"
"oh, wow. this is my apartment, gotta go. bye, guys!" abby hurriedly said and walked very quickly toward the rusted building. she looked down at her feet, trying her hardest not to trip on the way over.
"you live in a house," steve said, slightly confused while james said pointing in the opposite direction. "and it's over there."
"yeah, but i moved," she said matter of factly, hoping they would believe her very bad lie. steve looked concerned for his friend while james put his hands on his hips and looked at her sassily as if to say, i know your lying
"what about the festival?" steve called out to her. abby was walking so fast towards the building that she couldn't hear steve's question. steve looked at james, who shrugged, and they both continued walking down the sidewalk.
"we'll ask betty to make sure she goes." james reassured steve. while the boys continued talking, abby ran from building she said was hers to the actual house that she lived in, making sure her friends didn't see her.
✵✵✵as soon as abby got home, she walked into her room. it was painted a light blue and was very small. her bed was in the left corner and a window was right above it. her small nightstand was next to her bed and her white desk was directly across. on the end of her bed was piles upon piles of books about World War II and strategies the soldiers could use to win it. as soon as she got her new job to oversee the 107th Unit, she started researching to be as informed as possible. abby walked over to her bed and laid down. as soon as her head hit the pillow, she fell asleep.
abby woke to see her best friend, betty robinson, staring at her, "wake up abby!"
betty was like a sister to abby. when betty's parents ran off to england without her, abby's family took her in. abby and betty moved to brooklyn and the two had been living together since, becoming extremely close. betty robinson was a very pretty girl with red hair and an abundance of freckles to complement her blue eyes.
"ugh, why?" abby whined out, curious as to why betty had suddenly woke her up.
"oh, come on abby, live a little. we're going to the fair with steve and bucky tonight!" betty said excitedly as she danced around the room to the beautiful dresses hanging on the wall. she pulled them off the rack and spun around with them.
"WHAT! as in, they're our dates?" abby asked uncomfortably but still enjoying the idea of going to the festival with james on a date. she was sure that she would make a fool of herself.
"no, you silly goose," betty said gingerly. "we're just going to see them there!"
betty seemed to laugh at the thought and continued twirling around abby's room. apparently she didn't notice the fact that abby seemed a little disappointed they wouldn't be going as a couple.
"do we have to, betty?" abby asked not wanting to get up and go all the way to some fair. she had no idea what they fair was for and was sure that she'd end up following steve as he would try to enlist in the war. girls would flirt with james, and as per usual, abby would get almost no time with him.
"come on. it'll be so much fun, abby!" betty pulled her grumpy friend off of her the bed and ran into the bathroom, where makeup was set up, curling irons, and two beautiful dresses on the wall that betty personally made. abby slumped her shoulders as slowly stepped into the tiny area.
