I knew there was no point in sleepin Luckily, the car was warm, so I didn't freeze for the 10 minute ne every night. George had gone out a few hours ago to just wonder about because "the streets look so pretty at night".
Today was different than the rest. It was going on 4am and I still had no phone call. I decide that I would call him to see where he was so, I pick up my phone and press his contact. After hearing it ring 9 times he finally picks up.
"Hello? "
"George, its me, Will? "
"OH HI" flinching, I move the phone from my ear and let out a laugh.
"Where are you love? " the phone goes silent for a few moments.
"Remember the tree we first kissed under? " I think for a second.
"Yeah, are you there? "
"Yeah. Its so pretty at night. " I hang up the phone and put on my shoes, grab my keys and lock the door as I leave. Luckily, the car was warm so I didn't freeze for the 10 minute drive. As I approach the tree I notice petals on the road and when I get to George, he has a boquete of white roses and is still surrounded by petals.
"What is this? " he smiles at be before handing over the roses.
"A surprise that I have been planning for 2 weeks. " I think back and realize that George has only been obssesed with the night time recently and it all clicks.
I look at him confused but that doesn't last long as not even a second later, he is down on one knee.
"I am really bad at writing speeches unless my video scripts count haha. I just wanted to tell you that I have loved you since I watched that very first video you made on bgmedia. And when I finally got to call you mine I was over the moon. You make me so happy and I donk know what I would do without you. So, Will Lenney, will you marry me? " I start to cry and muffle out a weak yes. George shoots up and engulfs me into a hug. This is why he was always running off. This is why I picked him up from the same location every night. And I would do it all again, just to relive this moment.
"I am ever so fond of that memeory aren't you George?"
I look down and place the flower atop the uneven mud.
"I will miss you night owl. That day was 7 years ago. We never did get married. Maybe we can do it soon. May you rest in peace. I miss you."
