Lyric's POV

She goes over getting down beside her mom and pushes at her. "Mom get up, come on let's go inside." Lydia says.

"Lydia she's out, I'll carry her inside." I tell her.

"N-no it's fine she'll-" I cut her off.

"It's fine Lyds calm down." I whisper, she looks up at me tears forming in her eyes.

"I'm sorry." She whispers blushing even harder.

"Don't it's not your fault." I tell her sternly.

I pick up Lydia's mom and carry her up the stairs of the house, it's beginning to get dark. Lydia get's in front of me and pushes the door open.

An older woman comes around the corner. "Oh my god." She says stunned to see me carrying the woman into the house.

"It's okay grandma, she's just drunk she passed out in the yard." Lydia says.

A little boy maybe six years of age comes around the corner. "Lydia look what I made-" he cuts off. "Woah what happen to mama?" He asks looking at the woman in my arms.

"She's just sleeping buddy, she's really tired." I tell him. He sighs turning around and heading toward's the living room.

Lydia walks through the living room into a hallway and turns to go up the stairs I follow after her she goes to the third door on the right and opens it. The bedroom reeks of alcohol and cigarettes.

I set her down in the bed and turn around, Lydia looks at her mother in disgust. "Thanks." She murmurs.

"Don't mention it." I tell her.

We head back down the stairs and out the door without seeing the boy or her grandma again. We get into the truck and I don't say a word to her, it bothers me that her mother is like that. No kid should have to see shit like that and clearly her brother and her see it a lot.

"Now do you get it?" She asks looking at me gritting her teeth.

I sigh. "You shouldn't think less of yourself Lyds for what your mother does, so what she's an alcoholic it happens."

She takes me by surprise by laughing. "God you really don't get it do you?"

"Then why don't you make me understand?" I ask her.

She shakes her head. "She's a drunk, a whore, a drug addict-" She chuckles "I'll bet she's bringing home a new man every other night. I'm sure had she been awake she would of hit on you too. The best thing she ever did for my brother and I was bring us here my grandma, her mom takes care of us now for the longest time I was doing everything at home."

"Where the hell is your dad?" I ask.

"Dead." She says.

"I'm sorry." I whisper looking away feeling bad for asking.

We pull up to the drive through of Taco Bell and order food for everyone which is a lot. We pull up to the window I pay for it and we wait.

"Is that why you did it?" I ask.

She snorts. "That is a very small part of the many bad things in my life Lyric, it isn't worth talking about there is absolutely NOTHING you can do."

"How do you know?" I ask. "You won't even let me try to help you."

"You just can't." She hisses.

"You gonna tell me what Kevin has against you?" I ask.

"Nope." She says popping the P.
