Lyric's POV

One Week Later

Lyle decided to go spend his last night home with his parent's he hasn't seen them at all since we got home, he took Winter back home with him.

Lydia decided to stay here with me today was her eighteenth birthday I have to leave tomorrow morning so it's nice to have her to myself.

Kevin never did try anything at least not for the past week, but I'm worried that he might try it when I'm back on the road again.

"Come with me." I tell her.

"I can't, what about Liam?" She points out.

I shrug. "We can take him too." I chuckle.

She rolls her eyes. "He has to go to school Lyric."

"Kids get home schooled all the time sugar." I say and chuckle.

She laughs and shakes her head at my ridiculousness.

"You shouldn't be forced to have to take care of your brother. Why can't your grandma do it?" I ask curiously.

"Nobody is forcing me, it's just ya know my grandma is getting old and what if something happens to her? I can't leave him alone with my mom Lyric." She says softly.

I sigh and nod, I know that she's right I pour more wine into her glass and she smiles at me. "At least I get to spend my birthday with you." She whispers.

I smile and kiss her softly.

We're sitting on the floor on a blanket in front of the fire place with wine, she's sitting between my leg's she lays back resting her head against my chest.

"I'm worried about what he might try when I leave you alone." I whisper.

She thinks about it for a long moment. "I'll do my best to stay away from him." She says. "I want to get a job." She says.

"Do you need money?" I ask confused.

"I want to get my permit, and a car try to learn to drive." She says and shrugs. "Maybe Winter can teach me to drive."

"Yeah right she drives like a lunatic." I chuckle.

"Coming from the guy who had us airborne and landed us in a snow bank." She snorts.

"I'm never living that down am I?" I ask her.

"Not a fucking chance." She chuckles. "You got enough songs for a new CD yet?" She asks.

"More then enough." I admit.

"How do you do that?" She wonders. "I love singing and playing but I can't imagine trying to write something..." She trails off in wonder.

"It just comes to me naturally I guess." I whisper. "I still wanna hear you sing."

She shakes her head. "Mmm nope." She pops the P.

"One of these days I'm just gonna sneak in while you're showering to hear you." I laugh.

She shakes her head. "You're insane."

"I'm buying you an alarm system." I tell her.

She lurches forward and looks back at me. "What?" She chokes. I stare at her for a long moment before speaking.

"I just don't know if Kevin will call your dad ya know?" I ask and shrug.

She sighs and runs a hand through her hair but nods. "It probably won't help." She whispers.

"It might." I argue.

She sets her wine down and crawls into my lap she presses her lips to mine. I break the kiss she looks at me in confusion. "I got you something." I tell her.

I go into the kitchen opening a drawer where I left her birthday present and go back to the living room.

I hand her one of the boxes she smiles at me and opens it.

Its an infinity necklace with our names on it. A small gasp escapes her lips tears pool up in her eyes.

She spins around and smashes her lips to mine. "Thank you." She whispers as the tears brim over her eyes. "I'll be right back." She gets off the floor and leaves the living room.

When she comes back into the living room she is carrying one of my acoustic guitars.

She sits down cross legged in front of me and takes a deep breath. "Don't stare at me." She whispers.

I scoff but look away from her, and she starts playing the guitar.

I don't look back at her right away when she begins to sing, but it's so hard not to look at her because I'm absolutely blown the fuck away by her voice...

How could have anyone tried telling her she was not a good singer? That's completely fucking crazy!

🎶heart
Beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone?
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more🎶

I finally look back up at her and her eyes are closed as she sings and plays.

 🎶One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more🎶

It's crazy to think she has stage fright when she is so damn talented.

🎶And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
I'll love you for a thousand more
Ohh
One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more🎶

The song comes to an end she takes a deep breath and opens her eyes, finding mine instantly. I stare back at her in astonishment, she bites her lip and quickly looks away.

I crawl across the floor toward's her I grab the guitar from her and lay it down on the floor. "Wow." I whisper, she looks at me confused. "You've got such a beautiful voice baby."

She stares at me in surprise I grab her around the waist and pull her into my lap and smash my lips to hers.
