Claire's POV
"Claire! Time to get up!" Mom yelled. Ugh. Why did school have to exist? At least it's Friday, the last day of school.
I groaned, sitting upright in my bed and stretching. I didn't want to go to school, but it would look bad if I missed the last day of school. I got up and walked to my dresser. I then picked out an undergarment set, a black, sparkly T-shirt, a pair of blue skinny jeans, and black flats. I then took a quick shower and got dressed.
I grabbed my backpack and phone, then slowly walked down the stairs, careful of the trick step. "Morning Claire," Dad said. "Morning," I replied. I looked at Mom. "Where are Victoria and Elizabeth?" I asked. "Victoria's still asleep, and Elizabeth is in the kitchen," Mom said, eyeing me suspiciously. I never asked about Victoria before, only Abigail and Elizabeth. I already knew where Abby was, so I needed to find Victoria and Elizabeth.
I walked into the kitchen to find Elizabeth heating up a Hot Pocket. "Yo, Lizzy. What's up?" I asked, plopping myself down in the kitchen chair. I had 10 min before we had to leave for school. "Nothin' much, I'm having a party I'm college today, and a test," she said, clearly happy there was barely any work to do.
"So, how does it feel to be the only 16 year old to graduate High School?" She asked, leaning in to hear my reply. "It feels as if I don't deserve to graduate first," I said quietly. "I don't feel right skipping the grades I should've done. I feel like I'm growing up too fast."
Liz listened silently, paying attention to everything I was saying. "I understand what you are saying and how you're feeling, but don't let your age, people, or anything keep you from being who you are. You worked hard for this, harder than they have. You deserve this."
Liz smiled and rubbed my back. I sighed. I hope she's right and I'm not making a big mistake. I swung my backpack over my shoulder and walked out the door, not knowing that a tall man was watching every move I made, and was coming for me.
