It was a really warm morning, almost tropical with blue skies and small puffy white clouds. The sort of sky when you know its going to be a hot day.
Amber looked out from her balcony, looking over the beautiful azure blue sea. She was on holiday with her best friend Teagan, they had just finished their finals at university and decided they needed to unwind.
At first they couldn't decide where to go. Sunny Spain? Rainy England? A city break in Europe? But no at last they had decided on a fully inclusive holiday in southern Italy.
Amber and Teagan met when they were five years old in infant school. They had even discovered that their birthdays were one day apart from each other. They had been best friends through thick and thin. Arguments over boys and girls. Sticking up for each other every time someone disagreed with either of them.
Amber was tall and pretty with long brown hair. She was confident and assertive. These qualities attracted lots of attention from the opposite sex over the years, but Amber had dismissed every come on and requests for dates. She just hadn't met the right person yet.
Teagan on the other hand was short, very slim with long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. Teagan was quiet and really the opposite of Amber's confident nature. But she and Amber bounced of each other and were renowned for their constant giggling when they were together.
Teagan had sworn of boys since her boyfriend at uni had broken her heart by dumping her right before graduation.
Teagan had relied on Amber to get her through the last few weeks of Uni, and it was due to this that the holiday had been booked.
After graduation they packed their bags said a fond farewell to university and moved into their new apartment together.
It was a beautiful apartment over looking the river Thames. They could see the Millennium Dome and Canary Wharf in the distance. They both had jobs set up working in the West End, with the cast of Phantom of the Opera at the Queens Theatre.
They were both working as sound and lighting engineers. They had always loved drama and had gone from on the stage at school to back stage and engineering.
But first there was a holiday to have.
