I slipped out of me bed and decided to stay in my room for the early morning. The sun was barley in the sky and the air still smelled like dew. I lie down on my stomach and began to play with the action figures that Cyrus had claimed were his.
It was a great game. The one character, he held a little plastic gun, was trying to save the prince from the castle. The prince wasn't holding any weapons, and he was wearing a grey camo jumpsuit. I moved the savior around so he was jumping through the air and flying!
"Woosh!" I giggled when the hero started to fly. The prince kept yelling for help, "I'll save you."
The hero jumped all the way to the highest bookshelf and saved the prince. I cheered and threw the characters back into the little bin. Closing the lid I skipped into the kitchen.
Cyrus was out in the yard, moving about dirt. And Bell was with him they seemed to be talking to each other. Cyrus would talk then look back to the dirt, then Bell would throw up her hands and say something back.
I decided to ignore it and go about trying to make myself pancakes. I pulled the powder out from under the sink. It was in such a big bag that I had to use all my strength I had to lift it. I went up on my toes and shoved the powder onto the counter.
I hurried over to the kitchen table and yanked a chair to the counter. When I scrabbled onto the chair and pulled the bag open a big puff of powder hit me in the face. I sputtered back and coughed.
The powder needed to be wet for it to turn into pancakes. I wished for water and it sprung out from my hands. I yelled and fell back onto the chair. Did that really just... I was snapped out of my thoughts by Bell slamming the door open.
She marched over to the chair and grabbed me by my hair. I yelled at the pain but kept up behind her. She led me outside and chucked my body to the ground. I could see the anger burning behind her eyes.
My body fell into a patch of gravel making the Little Rocks cut my arm. I gasped when Bell threw her arm out making a circle of flame around us.
My eyes drifted from my bloody arm to Cyrus. He was yelling for her to calm done. Cyrus looked shocked and terrified. I willed back all tears.
I went to wipe my eyes before I noticed that my classes had cracked. Bell yanked me off the ground by my collar. I could feel my airway being constricted.
I tried to claw at the fabric, just for a second. But none moved. I started to shake before Bell threw me to the ground.
"This is who you pick over me!" She yells at Cyrus. I tired to back away but the flame didn't let me. Did I replace Bell?
"We can all live together Bell! He means no harm," Cyrus was trying to reason with her.
I looked up to Bell, "please let me go" she laughed and kicked me in the stomach. I gasped and pulled my knees to my chest.
She smirked and hit me in the head. I jostled back and tried to back away. Bell grabbed my shirt and dragged me closer to her.
"Let's show Cyrus how much of a 'big boy' you are," she growled into my ear. My head was spinning but I nodded silently.
I wasn't expecting Bell to rip the back of my shirt up, exposing my back to the icy wind. I shivered until she pressed her hands into my skin.
I screamed. Bell was shooting fire onto me, charing my back. "Bell sop it hurts!"
She chuckled and removed her hands. But then she did the same to my ankles and chest. The area smelled terrible.
And Cyrus kept running up to the circle then backing off. He couldn't save me this time. "Look at your poppet, Cy!" She yelled, "isn't he strong," she was mocking.
I was numb, all I could feel was the pain and stinging in my back. Tears were rolling down my cheeks and falling into the burns, making a sizzling sound. It was like my skin was spreading water through my vain.
I whimpered when bell decided to press her hands back into me. Not shooting fire this time, but the blistering hurt.
My whole body shook. Sobs were racking my frame and tears were falling.
Bell kicked me in the stomach again causing me to cough. She motioned with her hands and the flames went away.
Cyrus rushed to me and hesitated before kneeling. Tears were in his eyes and he gasped when his eyes locked with my burns.
I dipped my head down, I wasn't weak and I refused to let Cyrus see me cry. I was embarrassed and my face turned red.
Cyrus lifted my chin so we looked into each others eyes. He smiled at me then jumped up and stalked over to Bell.
"Bell how could you! You burned him to a crisp. Look at his back."
Bell scoffed and pushed past Cyrus. She knelt at my level and tugged my hair back, forcing me to look into her eyes.
"You are useless." She socked me in the face and I could almost feel the bruise form.
Cyrus grabbed Bell's arm and tugged her away. I inched as far off as possible.
Then I heard Cyrus' voice come from behind me. "Bell you will leave the tree until Coda is completely healed. Go."
She smirked and pushed him. Then stalked off. Cyrus came to my side but it was hard to see him. Dots danced along my vision and my head was pounding.
Cyrus took my hand and took me inside before I let the cool darkness overcome me.
