"Ali" I turn around at the sound of my friend's voice, that was trying to cover all the loud, noisy teenagers roaming the halls in search of their first class. His short, sandy hair bounced with every step, strong arms pushing people aside and green eyes frantically searching for my blue ones.
"Why are you so fast at walking?" He was breathing heavily, leaning on his knees.
"You're just out of shape, Aiden. " He puffed his giant chest at me and I rolled my eyes at his antics, unexpectedly being engulfed in a bone crushing hug.
"I know this must be hard for you, but you're not alone, okay?" I felt my eyes water at his words, remembering the reason why I was a new student at Winchester High.
Snapping out of it, I gently pushed his shoulders and threw him, what I believe was, a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, A, I don't have the time to feel sad for myself. C'mon, we should hurry." Aiden and I had homeroom together, followed by third and last class. Despite his muscular form, he's a big softie with a golden heart and girls seemed to adore his cheeckiness.
I looked around at the unfamiliar
place that I'll see a lot for the next 9 months and only now did I notice, once the halls started clearing, just how big this school is. It has three floors, the top one occupied by the staff's offices, including the principal who's's an old, kind man, with wrinkles at the corners of his eyes from smiling so much.Aiden led us where the homeroom takes place and outside the door stood, what seemed to be, a woman dressed in a white shirt tucked neatly into a pencil skirt, her feet supported by black stilettos. We could only see her back and flying hands while she's talking animatedly with one of the students.
"That's Miss Cain, she was my homeroom teacher last year as well. She's hot as hell, but as strict as she looks and as you'd guess by now, the students, especially the males, demand for her attention every chance they get." He gestures towards the boy next to her and shrugs his shoulders in a "I don't blame him" manner.
I raised my eyebrows at him
"You including?" Aiden turned his attention back to me, subtly lowering his voice as we neared the subject of our conversation."I have eyes you know" He deadpanned.
I only understood his reasoning once we reached the door. She turned to us, leaning on the doorframe, her deep ocean blue eyes assessing us with curiosity. Miss Cain was beautiful, alright. Jet black hair that seemed to reach the end of her back, with tanned, soft looking skin coupled with a slim body and full cherry red lips. She couldn't be older than twenty five.
"Good morning, Miss." I almost forgot about Aiden's presence until he greeted her good morning. The older woman had a small smile on her lips, the curiosity never disappearing from her eyes.
"Morning, Mr. Davidson, I hope you had a great summer." Her gaze travelled to my face expectantly, no doubt waiting for a greeting.
I decide not to give her the attention she's used to, instead opting for a court nod of my head in her direction as a sign of acknowledgement, and promptly going inside the room before she could question it.
I practically could feel her burning stare at the back of my head and my friend's confused look. Unsurprisingly seeing most of the students already seated and claiming the first rows, I hastily walk to a seat in the back, waiting for Aiden to join me.
Why is it that her surname seemed so familiar? Sure, my parents made me meet new people on a daily basis before leaving for school and I'm positive they were all important names in the business world, yet I couldn't pinpoint it in my head. Well, maybe I'm just being paranoid, but if there's something I learnt while being away, is to trust my instincts.
And right now they were screaming at me to keep my distance from the attractive older woman.
