"I'm bored." I looked in my other best friend's chocolate eyes that were filled with boredom and thought of anything remotely fun to do in this house. It was designed by the most creative architect, with a taste for intimacy and extravagance at the same time. My parents asked for a personal cinema, an indoors pool in the basement and a training room for me and my brother. Surely, those sound fun enough, but honestly I was in no mood to move out of my bed.
"How was your first day of school here?" Well, this seemed to peek her interest. I guess Aiden can keep his mouth shut for so long.
Rolling my eyes, I tried to form a story in my head without telling her how I got detention, made it in the football team and being the main subject in cheerleaders daily gossip, all in a couple of hours.
"It was...eventful." Yes, that's all I could come up with.
She narrowed her eyes at me
"Lying was never your forte, Ali.""Cam, you already know everything from Aiden! Why make me relive those moments?" I inwardly sighed at how exhausting all this was and it was only the first day.
"You know how Aiden exaggerates every little thing, don't be like that." She was full on pouting, as if that would work on me. Still, I decided to give her what she wants only this time.
"Um, I might have detention on a Saturday. Why, you must ask. Well, I happened to get into a fight with a football player, breaking a few ribs." I internally cringed at how it sounded. Certainly was better in my head.
"You..happened to break a few ribs. Right. That's normal. " If her tone didn't scream amusement, the laugh coming afterwards surely did.
"Stop laughing! He was their star player and all that shit, it also turns out they have a big match coming in a week and since their coach was pretty pissed, he made me take his place on the team for crying out loud!"
Ok she was actually holding her stomach by now. As if all this was a funny situation. I mean, sure, it kind of was, but it'll all disappear as soon as I'm met with the reality of it all.
"You just got Brad, super star at Winchester High and basically the most popular guy in school to stay on the bench?" Of course that shit is funny! He's such an ass, he deserved it. Why did you, though?" She seemed to have calmed down a little, but I'd rather have her laughing than questioning any further.
"He was forcing one of the cheerleaders to have sex with him in the janitors closet." The anger from back then came back and I suddenly felt like working out.
"A cheerleader?" She had a frown on her face, probably thinking of who may that be.
"Yeah, Isabel. She offered to go with us to the principal, practically not taking a no for an answer from Miss Cain. "
I got up to change in my sports bra and some shorts, keeping my attention on Cami."Wait, Miss Cain?!" Her surprised voice almost made me trip but I quickly caught myself, opening my bathroom door.
"Yeah, Cami. She's the one that saw us fighting so she took us to the principal's office. I almost got suspended, but Isabel explained what happened so I only ended up with detention. Happy now that you have all the details, you leech?"
I went inside to get changed, quickly discarding my clothes. Going back inside, I saw Cam typing away on her phone not even bothering to look in my direction, no doubt trying to find out the student's opinions about what happened. Silently making my way down to the training room, I let myself get carried away, all anger seeping out from my pores.

"Why am I here again?" Everyone was sporting a cup of whatever drink they had in their hand, some doing shots in the next room while others were heavily making out on the couches. Tipical American high school party.
"Because you were invited by Isabel herself and your kind self couldn't refuse her after what she did in the principal's office." Ok that was a good enough reason. Not one for making the best decisions when my life is involved.
Deciding that I had nothing to do about it, I went in search for the kitchen to find some alcohol. Filling my cup halfway with tequila, I started taking small sips while looking around the dancing bodies for any familiar faces.
"Not much of a parties person, are you?" Startled by Isabel's sudden presence, I look at her with wide eyes, not expecting to see the host in this mass of people.
"Not really, no. You don't exactly have a choice with friends like Camelia though." It was true, she'd always drag me to parties over the summer.
Her empty hands stood out to me, wondering why wasn't she drinking like everyone else.
Noticing my gaze, she gave me a small smile before replying.
"I don't drink. Nor do I throw parties, but with friends like them-she throws her head in the cheerleaders direction- you don't exactly have a choice either. ""Who knew I'm gonna meet a blonde with beauty and brain, cheerleader no less, at a high school party?" I grinned, glad that I have someone to talk to.
"And who knew that Aliyah, resident badass, a prodigy no less, was gonna sit in my kitchen complimenting my looks?" She gave me a mischievous smile, with a glint I couldn't recognize in her eyes, and I suddenly realized that this wasn't so bad after all.
