I stood there, wondering if I heard that right. The on going problems are toying with my head, but I did my best to remain calm and with a clear mind.
"Thanks, Dana, I'll take care of it in a second. Is everything still in touch?" She nodded her head in agreement.
"Of course, Miss. Nothing changed." I gave her a thankful smile and left her desk.
Going inside the room attached to my dad's office, I took some formal clothes out of the closet from my summer trainings. I decided I looked presentable enough with slacks and a buttoned up shirt, so I used the door to my right to go right inside the office.
I was met with a blonde's back, dressed in jeans and a leather jacket. The noise of my footsteps seemed to attract her attention and her brown eyes sat straight on my blue, icy ones.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" She was confused to see me, if the frown on her face is any indication.
"Where's Ethan? We were supposed to meet over a week ago and he's not answering any of my calls or texts." Her previous confusion now morfed into anger, if it was directed at me or the situation, I don't know.
"He was in a car accident, he's currently being taken care of at the hospital." Or more like he was beaten up to a pulp, but she didn't need to know that.
Her eyes widened, no doubt expecting Ethan to have ignored her on purpose. Maybe having her near him will produce some sort of reaction from him, it's worth a try.
"W-what? But how is that possible, no one told me! God, not even your mother." So my mother knew about her? Interesting.
"You can visit him at any time, just make sure you'll let me know so you can pass the guards. Police procedure and all, you know?" I didn't want her to get suspicious, but I also wanted to give this a try.
"I want to see him right now, please, I can't wait any longer." Her pleading eyes seemed proof enough of her feelings, enough for me to fish for my phone in my right pocket and send a quick text to the guards.
"Ask for Dr. Adams, he'll help you to his room and such. Let me know if anything happens, alright?" I quickly scribbled my phone number on a ripped paper and handed it to her.
"Here, don't hesitate in calling me at any time." She contemplated her options for a second, finally coming to a conclusion.
"Amalia"
"I'm sorry?" Was that her name?
"My name. I suppose you're Aliyah, so thank you for everything. I'll let you know how it went." She seemed a little troubled that I'm not going with her, probably thinking I'm on bad terms with my brother or just not caring for him at all. I didn't care about her opinion, that's for sure.
I made a mental note to ask my mother about her as soon as she comes back.
Checking with Dana for what I actually came, I was supposed to go to the airport to pick up important clients and convince them to renew the contract. Lovely. Oh well, it seemed easy enough, seeing as they collaborated with us before.
"Alright, Dana, you can call for the car to wait for me at the entrance, I'll be there in a minute. Make sure there's no mistake with the hotel until we get there, I want no surprises."
She quickly hurried to find the necessary phone numbers and I was grateful to have her around. I picked up one of the coats hanging and made my way over to my own car to pick up my wallet. A limousine was indeed waiting for me at the entrance, just like I said, and Dave, the grey haired man we grew accustomed to over the years, greeted me with a kind smile, opening the door for me.
