CHAPTER ONE
4300 AD
Accrapolis, Geeces
"Looks like a storm out there Kuzo, are you sure you want to go out today, I don't know but I think your tutors would understand. "The concerned black mom said.
"And miss history class, hell no!" Kuzo retorted.
Her fifteen year old picked his hologramunicator, which everyone called a cell-watch.
"Be quick about it then or you'll miss the airbus" His father walked in dressed in his high neck zolnar zipper suit.
"You could take me dad"
"Nope" He said, fixing his UV absorber cufflings. It was a thing in their time especially for engineeres who worked in a highly radioactive environment.
"Come on, you never let me ride with you in your Gavin bike.
"That’s because it's dangerous, especially for you who hates putting on your helmet" His mother said.
"Why do you allow him ride that beast then, he could get killed" Kuzo said to his mother.
"Nice try son" His father teased.
"You are not your father Kuzo" Maia said with smiling eyes.
"But I am his son and if he can ride that thing, I can too"
"You'll only rest your butt on the Gavin when you turn eighteen" His father said.
"That thing will be archaic by then, do you two realize how fast technology is advancing I read somewhere that way back, automobiles used to move on things called tires. What are tires anyway?, he showed me this old piece of metal that was used for communicating in his time, people called them mobile phones, which had their light trapped in them and could trap music too"
"It didn't trap music it just could download stuff from the internet, and you had to buy cards with encrypted numbers that gave you time to talk to people, ridiculous right" Kuzo laughed and picked up his info-slate. A device that permitted you entry into any library in the world via mind-search. All you had to do is log in with your palm and you could get access to any information you needed, you didn't have to buy books in a bookstore like it was done long ago, any book that was released could be bought with secoins, it was a universal currency, everyone who was born was automatically given an account and kids earned currency by playing video games that could transform points into secoins but that was only available to those between 5 and 18. Adults had to work while wearing a watch that reads and measures input, the amount of input you put into your work be it cognitive or physical determined how much you got paid, there was nothing like a fixed salary. It was illegal.
"Don't forget to take your jacket and your scorch-block" Maiandra called to her son.
A scorch-block is what the ancient or old people called umbrellas. It was like a saber you shot out which created some sort of a transparent dome above you that permitted you to see the sky but to block the rain or the snow or the ashes from the factories.
Kuzo picked his scorch block which hanged on a rack close to the three ancient looking arrows that were stored in a glass casing on the wall, one of them was broken but his mother somehow kept it anyway, why, she never said.
Geeces, was a pretty nice place, it was a united African country, one of the few among the HDAC's, Highly Developed African Country's. While others had allowed themselves to be torn apart by war, Geeces had allowed unity and technology to raise it to a standard of international recognition. The best engineers and programmers came from Geeces. It was a country which was obsessed with technology, the people always found new ways to make things easier and fun.
"I wonder how you do it" Essien her husband said to her, Maiandra turned to face him.
"Sometimes I feel you can actually see" He whispered, taking both her hands in his.
Maiandra smiled.
"That’s because I do see you Essien"
"Well good" He kissed his wife on the cheek.
"I'd see you tonight" He called back on his way out.
"'l'll be waiting" She laughed.
"Mom, there's something wrong with Fiji"
Fiji was the family dog, he was a black bernedoodle.
"I thought you were gone to school" Maiandra wondered what her son was still in the house for.
"You know normal parents actually walk their kids to the bus station"
"That was centuries ago, now would you get to the airbus station now!"
"Are you even listening to me, Fiji is sick" Kuzo said.
Maiandra noticed the dog and walked up to it. He's just having a bad day.
"How do you know that?" Kuzo frowned.
"I'll take him to the vet now get going"
"Fine" Kuzo grabbed his hover-glide and walked to the door"
"Bye mom" He waved and he was gone.
Right after he left, there was a loud thunder, Fiji whined.
"I know Fiji, its probably just another weather scare, but we both have the chills right?"
"Fiji whined".
