The Roars

.  .  .

Apples

Millions and millions of apples, on the ground and up on the tables, there are apples everywhere.

Apples, apples, apples

And right there in the middle of the room was a five feet tall- machine. I figured that the machine was the reason for that disturbing noise. Coming out from the other side of the machine was what looked like --oh wait-- even more apples!

I knew that my father's new project was named apple ergo it had something to do with apples. But these were too much, what is he going to do with all of that?

The most disturbing thing about the situation at hand is that he didn't inform anyone about what the new project and what will it consist of. All he mentioned was that unlike his other companies, this one will be more of a competition than an in-cooperation.

Don't ask.

Even I, the heir for all his companies, have no idea what the hell is happening in that new project. And then there is the fact that all of the workers are on some type of allegiance to not tell a soul about the whereabouts of that thing.

You'd think after I entered that room I would know what the plan is; it made my head spin even more. I wasn't fishing for anything as a matter of fact just my curiosity peaking.

"ADAM!" I heard my mother yell from somewhere downstairs. Not wanting to get caught red handed spying on my father like that, I quickly got out of the room.

But my mind never stopped working, wondering what is he going to do with all these apples, what is his plan?

"Hello,"

"Adam, where are you?" The voice said from the other side of the phone, "you said you'd be here by now." She completed.

"I know, I know, I'm stuck in traffic!" I yelled unconsciously, the car from behind me horned at me, opening the window I popped my head out and cussed the owner of the vehicle. "Asshole," I muttered under my breath.

"Shut up!" Maple's voice boomed from the phone, "Get here fast. It's getting dark and I'm here alone." She said. I nodded until I realized that she can't see me.

I ended the call and raised the volume of the radio a little bit; a song by twenty-one pilots was playing on while I laid my head back on the headset and waited for the traffic to cease a bit. The car from behind me honked again which snapped me out of my thoughts; I flipped the driver off while I stepped on the gas and sped up.

After my mother called me down I excused myself and went outside of the house. Even though I'm certain that my father suspected something due to my belated presence he didn't comment on it. I bid my parents farewell post my dad telling me that he will meet me tomorrow in his office.

Even though I agreed, we all knew that I will find a way to get out of it, which is what I was planning now as I drove down the city roads. I called Maple once I was out of the house and she said that she was staying in late for work. So I promised I would pick her off from work, and since you all guessed it. I was stuck in traffic.

I was drumming my fingers on the wheel while I parked in front of the newspaper my fiancée works in. I honked at her once I saw her standing by the corner. I waved her over which she obliged, walked over, opened the car door and got in.

I greeted her with a smile which she half-halfheartedly mirrored. She was beautiful least to say. A Redhead with deep green eyes which she hid under her heavy glasses-- I always tried to convince her to wear contacts but she never liked to.
