Betty's Pov

"Cheryl! Come on! I'm your cousin!" I beg while shaking my cousins pale white arm. We are Juniors in high school in the middle of English class and Cheryl being the unafraid girl she is, brought her vape into school. I've never done anything like that. In fact, the worst thing I've ever done is take a shot of vodka, and I got drunk off it. But, now, I want to try the vape in Cheryl's hands.

Cheryl protected me and isn't letting me do it.

"No, dear cousin, I'm not letting you waste your life on something like this." Cheryl said calmly although I was still hanging onto her arm. "Come Onnnn! Don't you love me!?" I coax, starting to get really upset. I knew why she wouldn't let me do it, and it wasn't because she didn't want me to waste my life. It was because she didn't want Veronica or worse- Jughead, to find out and kill her.

"Of course I do!" Cheryl now shouts while shaking her arm, trying to get me to let go. I wouldn't budge. "Then let me do it!" I scream. The whole class is now staring at us and I watch as Cheryl's face begins to turn bright red. "Betty get the hell off me!" she whisper shouts, and I do because she sends me a death glare sharp enough to cut skin.

She crouches down so shes now my eye level. "Go sit down and pay attention." Cheryl whispers. "But Cheryl-" I begin to protest as she walks away, but then she turns around and shoots me the same death glare, and I shut up immediately.

I sit down and try my best to pay attention to Mr.Weatherbee as he tells us an important announcement from the office, but it's hard to focus as I can feel Cheryl's eyes glued to the back of my head from the back of the room. It's only 2:55 and school gets out at 3:25. 30 minutes left. I can do this.

I looked behind me to see Cheryl is in fact staring me down. I give her puppy dog eyes, and she shakes her head violently and mouths 'no'. I don't really know why I want to do this. I guess I just don't want to be innocent old Betty Cooper anymore. I want to know what it feels like. I want my friends to be proud because I'll finally be able to fit in. I know Archie does it, and Veronica has maybe a couple times. And I know for a fact Jughead does it because he does it when we're on facetime at night sometimes.

And I think it's the hottest thing ever.

3:00. I turned behind me to look at Cheryl, give her puppy dogs eyes again, and once again she shakes her head and tells me no. Only this time, I mouth 'why', which I get 'because I said so.' as a response.

I put my head down on my desk and continued thinking about it. What would the sensation be like? Veronica told me it would hurt my first time, but so do a lot of things. The vodka hurt, but I don't think the vape would hurt nearly as bad as the vodka did. Would it sting? Will I get caught? But then I start thinking it's stupid that I'm thinking about it since it's obvious Cheryl isn't changing her mind.

I doze off for a hot second and get woken up by Cheryl. "Betty wake up." She shakes me.

"W-what time is it?" I ask groggily as I raise up my head. I look at the clock. It's 3:15. "3:15," she whispers urgently. "Listen, Betty, if I let you do this, you have to swear on your life you won't tell anyone at all."

I can't believe my ears. She's actually going to let me do this? "Wait, seriously?" i question, knowing she might be joking. "Yes, Betty, come on we'll do it in the back of the class." she said as she grabs my arms and pulls me up.

"what's it gonna feel like?" I whisper, trying my best to look normal as we start to walk to the back of the room. "It'll probably hurt." Cheryl responded. We made it to the back and we stood in the corner.

"Okay, here. Hurry up and go." Cheryl coaxes as she whispers. "Wait how do I do it?" I whisper shout. Cheryl rolls her eyes and hands me the vape pen. "Just put your mouth around it and breathe in." she said. "Now go!" she coaxes.

"But I'm nervous!" I whisper shout again. "Goddamn it Betty, look how easy it is." Cheryl takes the vape pen out of my hand, puts it in her mouth, breathes in, puffs out the smoke, and blows it away as quick as possible. I watch, mesmerized. "Now, it's your turn." Cheryl says as he hands me the vape pen back.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes. "Okay, no pressure." I whisper.

I then put the vape pen in my mouth and breathe in. I don't feel anything at first, but then my throat begins to sting and I start coughing. Cheryl laughs. "How was it?" Cheryl asks with a smile on her face. I finish coughing. "Good." I breathe out, but then I find it hard to talk and I start coughing again.

"You're fine." Cheryl says. We walk back over to our seats and sit down, waiting for the bell to ring and school to be over. As I'm sitting there, I start to feel weird and lightheaded. I can't exactly focus, and I'm tired suddenly. Cheryl then takes me out of my trance. "Betty, stop looking suspicious." she says. "Remember, we don't tell anybody at all. If people ask, you say you have a headache." Cheryl says sternly.

I nod my head okay as the bell rings and the two of us leave the class. "You're fine, Betty. Come with me to my locker." Cheryl guides me downstairs to her locker. When we get there, there's Archie, Veronica, and Jughead waiting for us.

"Hello, my love." Jughead smiles and greets me once he sees me enter the hall. I try my best to return his smile, but feel very tired. He holds his arms out for a hug, which i happily accept, and once my head hits his chest, my body goes limp and he has to hold me up. "Betts?" he questions trying to hold me.

"B is everything okay?" Veronica asks walking up to the two of us. "I'm fine." I reply wearily.

"Betty has a headache, she did all class." Cheryl stood up for me. I then decided to show my strength so I stood back up. "Yeah, see, I'm ok." I smile fully now.

Definitely gonna do a part 2 to this eventually so look out for that. I hope you guys like this one so far, I know that there's literally no Bughead in this but don't worry, the part 2 will hopefully satisfy you guys enough! I finally got a lot of time to write so I've been working on lots of chapters cuz I want you guys to keep reading and hopefully be happy with this book.
