Heart Like Yours

Jugheads Pov

This is it. Today's the day of the Riverdale High talent show. With it being our senior year, I'm going to be singing a song for Betty as a surprise.

Right now, I'm sitting with Betty on my left and Archie sitting to my right, with Veronica on his right. I have my hand rested on Betty's leg, and we're sitting there watching Josie and the Pussycats preform a new song they made just for this. I'm starting to get nervous, knowing I'm the last contestant and we're getting closer and closer to the last one.

Archie and Veronica have helped me keep this a secret from Betty for weeks. Archie has been giving me one on ones in gutair lessons and I've been practicing my singing since I've never sung in front of a large crowd before. Or, well, anyone for that matter.

It was finally 5 more routines until I went on. I had to excuse myself subtly and go with Archie backstage. "I'll be right back, Betts I gotta go do something." I say as I begin to stand up. She stops me. "Wait! You're gonna miss the rest of the show!" She protests.

Man she really has no idea what's coming. I place a gentle kiss on her cheek and look her in her eyes. "Don't worry, I'll be here." I smile as I start to get back up again, Archie telling Veronica straight up where he was going since Veronica already knew, and trailed behind me. We went outside of the auditorium and through the theatre doors to backstage, where we were met with the final few students to go on.

"You nervous?" Archie asks, smiling. "Yeah. Kind of a lot." I say shakily as Archie steps in front of me, blocking my view of the stage.

"Listen, if you get too scared and you feel like you can't do it, just remember the crowd in their underwear. You got this, bro you're completely ready. I've taught you everything I know." Archie tries to comfort. Don't get me wrong, Archie is literally like a brother to me, but he really doesn't know much. So, him teaching me everything he knows, maybe isn't the best possible thing.

"Yeah, okay, Arch. Well I go on in 2 acts so you can go back with Veronica." I tell him, somewhat trying to get him away because he was only stressing me out more.

"No can do, buddy, im watching you from back here." Archie says back happily and I sigh, knowing there's no way I'm winning this one.

Betty's Pov

"Dude, where did Jug go? The talent shows almost over!" I say to Veronica who is now sitting in the empty seat Jughead left.

"Just be patient with him. Jeez you're usually the one to have faith in your beanie wearing lover, not me." Veronica replies normally. She's up to something. I can sense it. And I'm not up to hear what she's planning on doing.

I begin to gather my things, deciding since it's the end of the day I can just go home and hopefully see Jughead later. "Hey what're you doing?" Veronica asks me hurriedly and I look back down at her seeing the fear in her eyes.

"I'm just going home. If Jughead comes back just tell him to call me." I reply and I start walking out of the row we were seated in and to the door, but before I could get far, something th announcer said caught my ears.

"Alright, and for the last act of the day, we have Jughead Jones who will be singing and playing a gutair!" The voice said. I turned on my heels and low and behold there was my beautiful boyfriend walking onstage to a stool with a microphone and gutair around his neck.

Some of the girls in the audience began going ballistic. Jughead well... he's kind of a catch, so once his name was announced, tons of girls screamed and ran up to the stage. I stayed put until he sat down.

"Hi guys. I'm Jughead jones." He announces, and his crowd of girls in front of the stage scream. I start to walk towards the stage myself, taking time with my strides, seeing where this is going.
