The drive to Wayne Manor was a quiet drive. After our short conversation, no one said a thing. I wasn't really sure what to say so I stayed silent. I watched the passing world just thinking. It was a mess of different things and I was lost in thought until we pulled into the Batcave.
I hopped out the batmobile but stayed close to it as the other two got out. I looked around and the cave looked a little different from how it did so many years ago. It brought back memories of playing around with dad, well more like me running around and him chasing after me.
I sighed thinking about it. Thinking about the time lost.
"Kyra? You coming?" Robin asked and I looked over to him with his mask off standing by the bat-computer. I was surprised to see his beautiful blue eyes. I took a few steps forward and my feet started getting cold from the cave floor. It felt strange being back here. Being back home. I looked back up at Robin and nodded. I walked over to them and sat in the chair in front of the computer with dad's cape still wrapped around my shoulders.
"Master Bruce, Master Richard, I brought you both warm drinks." The sound of a British man came from behind me and I turned around to see Alfred standing there with a tray with two cups. He noticed me turn around and once he looked at me he dropped his tray with a loud crash making me jump.
"Miss Kyra?" I smiled and gave him a small wave sticking out my arm from the cape. He smiled and came over to me and pulled me into a hug which I gladly accepted. He let go of me and had a kind smile and looked like he was about to cry but knowing Alfred I knew he was trying his hardest not to cry in front of me.
"It's been a while, Miss Kyra. I am glad you are back." He said. I smiled and took the corner of the cape and wiped the tears that were starting to collect in my eyes.
"I'm glad to see you too Alfred. Is it okay if I ask you a question?" He nodded and I turned to the direction that Robin and dad had gone to change. "Who is that boy? Did dad adopt another kid?"
"His name is Richard Grayson. For some reason, he likes to go by Dick, which I'll never understand. Master Bruce took him in as his ward after his parents died in a circus accident. It has been four years I think. If you want to know more about him then I suggest you ask him. He would be able to give you a better answer than I could." I nodded and the two boys walked out in civilian clothes.
"How about we go upstairs," Dad suggested and I nodded and walked up behind them. Alfred suggested making some food for us and I thanked him. We sat in the living room while Alfred cooked and I kept quiet. I wanted to ask questions but I was scared.
"So Kyra, I'd like you to meet Richard Grayson." Dad finally said breaking the silence. I waved and he smiled.
"Call me Dick."
"I'm gonna call you Ricky, I like Ricky." He looked like he was gonna say something but stopped himself. I smiled and dad laughed.
"I see some things didn't change."
"Yeah, you could say that..." I muttered and I don't think they heard me and if they did when they were interrupted by Alfred.
"Food is ready if you all wish to move to the dining room." I nodded and followed the boys. Dad sat at the head on the table and Ricky sat to his left which made me frown. That was where I used to sit. I quickly got over myself and sat to dad's right as Alfred walked in with sandwiches. I smiled when he set a peanut butter sandwich in from of me.
"I wasn't sure what to make you so I thought you would like one of your favorites." I thanked him and started digging in and savoring the wonderful taste of peanut butter. By the end of the night, no words were really shared. There wasn't much to talk about so after dinner asked quietly asked dad if I could take a shower. An emotion crossed his face but quickly disappeared and as he told me to use my old bedroom.
I went to my room and was surprised it had changed. My walls were still a baby blue but my bed and the rest of my furniture was covered by white sheets. I ignored that and went to my bathroom. There was body wash in there already along with washed towels. I sighed and turned on the shower, making sure it wasn't too warm.
I got in and touched the water and it was cold. Just how I like it. It was soothing and calming after the eventful day that I've had. I watched the dirt and grime go down the drain and my skin began to clear along with my hair. This felt so strange after not being able to have a calming shower to being able to feel free and clean.
I got out and dried myself off. My hair was still damp but not dripping wet when I realized I had no clothes to change into. I didn't want to put my old ones on since it was dirty and torn so I walked out with a towel wrapped around me and knocked on dad's door. After a few, he came to the door and I looked down a little embarrassed.
"I... I was wondering if I could borrow a shirt or something from you or Ricky. I really don't like those clothes from Cadmus..." I mumbled but he still heard me. He walked back inside his room and grabbed a sweatshirt that would be big on me but it would do. "Two doors from the right of your room is Dick's, go see if he has any pants that might fit you."
I nodded and turned around. I found his door and hesitated for a moment trying to conger up the courage to knock on his door. I took a deep breath and knocked and he came to the door rubbing his face.
"Do you need something?"
"Uh, yeah, I was wondering if you had any pants I could borrow. Dad said you might have some." He nodded and walked back inside and grabbed a pair of pants that looked like they would be a little big on him.
"Thank you. Sorry for bothering you, Ricky. Goodnight." I waved and went back to my room, changing into the new clothes. I pulled the sheet off my bed and threw it to the side to reveal my green dark blue sheets. I smiled and got into my soft bed and snuggled into my sheets.
"It's good to be home."
