One Love

Chapter 1: Awkward Dinner and Apologies

It was a bright summer day and Hermione was reading the book "Rudimentary steps for being an excellent Auror" on her couch in her flat she owned in London. After an hour or so she saw an eagle owl sitting on her window pane. She thought it was a letter from Draco since it has been a few days that she and Draco didn't meet. She fed the owl and undid the letter attached to its leg. She took the letter and the owl flew away.

Her jaw dropped to the floor when she saw from who it was. She deeply inhaled and read the letter:

Dear Miss Granger

It has been a year after the war and we came to know about your friendship with our son. We thought that we must meet you and your friends, Mr. Potter, and Mr. Weasley. We were terrible to you during your Hogwarts years and we decided it is the time to change and to sort up differences among us. We are inviting you and your friends for dinner at Malfoy Manor tomorrow evening at 8:00. We will owl Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley as well. We hope that you people will join us.

PS: Draco doesn't know about this, we will surprise him by your coming.

She sighed and thought what the hell was wrong with Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy. But the next moment she thought that they were a lot changed after the war. She decided to call Harry and confirm this invitation. She paced towards her telephone. She was about to pick it up when it rang to life. She picked it up and heard Harry from the other side.

Harry: Hermione Merlin, you won't believe who owled us today!!

Hermione: Err...us?

Harry: Ugh! Me and Ron

Hermione: Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy. They owled me as well.

Harry: What? (Ron, listen, she also got the letter from Malfoys!!)

Hermione: Let me come to your place, we'll talk about it.

Harry: I am waiting.

(A/N: Harry lives at Grimmauld Place with Ginny and Teddy)

Hermione flooed to Harry's place and greeted him, Ron and Ginny. Ron and Harry hugged her while Ginny waited. Both the boys started talking about the invitation Malfoys sent them. She was surprised asked them to hold on for a moment. She made her way to Ginny and hugged her. Ginny chuckled and said, "Only Mione loves me. Neither my boyfriend nor my brother." They both looked embarrassed as Ginny shot them death glares. Harry hugged her and said, "Never in a million years, love" and kissed Ginny.

"Oi!!! She is my sister!" said Ron.

Hermione was laughing uncontrollably. "Grow up Ron."

Anyways, she said after a while, "now what do we do?"

"I think we should go, they appear genuine this time. And Hermione also said that Draco wasn't an arse like before, didn't you?" popped Ron and Harry and Hermione nodded in agreement.

"That's settled! Go on you three," said Ginny.

"But I want you to come, Gin," Harry said to Ginny.

"I know, but I don't want to be an unwelcome guest, we'll see it next time."

So the trio decided to apparate to Malfoy Manor next evening.

NEXT DAY 7:30 pm

Hermione was putting on her earring when her doorbell rang.
