It was a peaceful morning on the island, and Sonic and the gang were out in the forest, doing some exploring.
"Ah, nothing like a nice day to calm your nerves", Amy said, feeling the cool summer air flow through her pink quills.
"Yeah, I guess, unless you're being followed by the government and not realizing that they're stalking you", Sticks said, being superstitious and paranoid as usual.
"Sticks, quit being so paranoid", Tails said, "nothing bad is going to happen, hopefully".
"Unless Egghead thinks of another plan to defeat us", Sonic said, "that guy never learns".
"Yeah! Like I never learned how to do. . .um. . .come back to me", Knuckles said, being a knuckle head as usual.
Suddenly, Tails's scanner started beeping, and small red light flashing on and off.
"Whoa! Guys, my locator's found something", he said.
"What is it", Amy asked.
"Did it pick up a ufo or something, I knew something had followed us", Sticks said.
"No, it's not that, it's something else", Tails explained, "it might be one of Eggman's robots nearby, but I think we'd better investigate".
"Yeah, let's go and see what it is", Sonic said.
They walked on, the locator's sound beeping louder as they got closer to whatever it was picking up.
The beeping suddenly went faster, seeing that whatever it had picked up was inside of a large cave that the locator had led them to.
"It's coming from in there", Tails said.
"It looks pretty dark in there", Amy replied, "good thing our clothes can help us see in the dark".
As they walked in, Tails pressed a button and their clothes glowed in a neon light, that way they could see the inside of the cave.
"Whoa, look at these paintings", Amy said, seeing different kinds of paintings on the cave walls.
"This must've belonged to the Ancients", Tails said, inspecting the paintings closely, seeing that they were nearly faded and a bit hard to tell what they were.
"Hey guys, look at this one", Sonic said, pointing at a very strange painting.
They all came over to look at it, seeing a painting of what looked like a purple gem, the other one next to it of a villager holding it, and the next one was a shadow with claws, fangs, and glowing eyes.
"What's it suppose to mean", Knuckles asked.
"Not sure", Amy said, "whatever it means, it must be something bad".
"Definitely", Sticks replied.
"Let's just see what the scanner picked up", Tails said.
They then walked to where the scanner was telling them to go, until the beeping sped up.
They saw that they were in front of a tall stone pedestal, and on the top of it was a large dark purple diamond. It gleamed brightly.
"Whoa, that's the most beautiful gem I've ever seen", Amy said.
"I'll say, it matches my eyes", Knuckles said.
"This is fascinating, the gem seems to be very powerful", Tails said, "no wonder the scanner had picked it up".
"I don't know, something seems strange about that gem and I don't like it", Sticks exclaimed.
Suddenly, Sonic walked up to the pedestal and reached for the gem.
"Wait, Sonic! Sticks may be right, it looks like the one from the painting", Tails said.
"Oh come on, it's just a gem", Sonic said sarcastically, "it's not like it's cursed or something".
"Sonic don't touch that", Amy shouted. But it was too late, Sonic grabbed the gem and suddenly, it glowed a blinding flash of purple light.
They shielded their eyes, avoiding contact with the light.
The light faded, Sonic fell to the ground, luckily the gem was still on it's pedestal.
"Oww, what the heck was that", he said.
"I told you not to touch it", Amy said, putting her hands on her hips, annoyed that he didn't listen to her.
"Sorry", he groaned, getting up.
"I told you something's up with that gem, we should've just left it alone", Sticks exclaimed.
"Let's just go, at least nothing happened to Sonic", Tails said.
They all left, leaving the gem and the cave and heading back home.

Alone at his place, Sonic was enjoying a chili-dog he had made for himself.
The sun had set, and the moon was rising up.
Suddenly, as the moonlight shown through the window, Sonic felt an unease, suddenly the unease turned into a sharp pain and it spread through his body, causing him to drop his chili-dog.
"Uugghh, what's happening. . .", he groaned in pain.
Suddenly, his blue fur changed into a dark shade of blue, the tips of his quills turned white. His hands became massive, ripping his gloves and sports-tape, and his wrists growing fluffs of white fur. His fingers grew claws, his muzzle turning a light blue like his hands and chest, his teeth became sharp fangs. And lastly, his shoes grew spikes at the bottom and the top, the red color turning metallic.
Suddenly, a loud howl pierced the sky, almost waking up every villager in the village.
