As the gun pointed directly at Kai's chest, i knew there was only one thing to do. I flung my legs up and my feet slammed into his stomach and he stumbled backwards, having the gun fall to the floor. I picked up the gun and pointed it at my dad. As i did, a voice popped into my head, 'don't do it, if you do, you're just as bad as he is, ' i knew i couldn't kill him or his forces would kill me, so instead i raise the gun and pointed it at the roof of the mine. As i did, my father had regained stable and elbowed me in the ribs. I knew how to fight from years of constant training so i knew exactly what to do. I held the gun and my father lifted his hands "you win," he said with doubtfulness in his voice. I felt Kai brush up next to me and a warm tingling sensation went down my spine. "No you don't,"I scoffed knowing full well it was a trick. "Yeah you're right, i don't,"he laughed scooping dust off the ground and throwing it in our eyes. I felt his firm grip around my neck so i flung him over my back and he hit the ground with a large thud. I wiped my eyes so I could sort of see and grabbed Kai's arm. He tried to hit me but i whispered my name before he fully could. We raced for the exit, when i realised i still had the gun. I turned around and shot a bullet into the roof, giving us approximately twenty-ish seconds to get out. The ground rumbled and i heard my father roar my name but I didn't care, i just kept running with Kai by my side. I sprinted up the stairs and to the exit. When i reached the end heard the mine starting to collapse. "Kai? KAI!!" I ran as fast as my legs could carry me back into the mine to see Kai struggling against my fathers grip around his neck, i shot a bullet at his hand and he stumbled backwards. Kai ran to me and together we just got out of the mine. To see my father get half his body crushed by bricks but him still standing, and them disappear into the rubble. Step 1, complete.
