She chewed her lower lip, her fingers drumming on the polished wooden table as she watched the myriad of emotions flickering through the pair of dark eyes. She had expected the same kind of reaction from him – the eerie silence as he scanned through the mail while a sly smile danced on his lips. She took a deep breath, preparing herself for the upcoming argument that she was sure about in the way his eyes lingered on the laptop screen. She had called the HR Manager and informed her about the mail after she ended the call with Lavanya before joining Arnav by the shore and showing him the contents of the mail. Khushi knew that they would not easily relieve her from the job and they would come up with some kind of problem to make her stay back. She also knew Karan enough to expect that the outcome wouldn't be in her favor. But, she was no more concerned about it, she realized. She smiled as she leaned in, scanning his face as he finally looked up at her.
"Whoa! What is that about?" Arnav asked, his voice as playful as it had always been even as his eyes rested on hers in contemplation.
There was a time when they had been in their idiotic self, not letting the other know their inner feelings. All she had done was try and hide how she felt about him and shook her head with a silent laugh when he expressed his. When he had informed her that she would find peace only when she accepted her own feelings, she had laughed at his confidence. Now, she wanted to slap herself for being so self-indulgent and for not having enough faith in her own feelings. She looked away, at the water that glittered under the midday's rays. "Let's have a walk." She said instead, extending her hand with a small smile.
"You haven't changed." He pointed out as they walked towards the shore hand in hand in a leisure pace. There were no signs of disturbance even as she spotted Parker at the entrance of the local hotel they had dined, with Julie by his side. Khushi looked at Arnav with a raised brow, her face glowing without any traces of pain.
