{In Bruce's Office}Shayera, for once, was speechless. She had no idea that (Y/N) was the Joker's sister. Who would even begin to suspect it? They were, in fact, polar opposites. The only time (Y/N) was ever crazy was at parties, and that was after a few beers.
She looked up at Bruce. "How long have you known?" She asked, feeling aggravated that neither Bruce nor Alfred had told her.
"I've known for years," Bruce said, running his fingers through his hair. He was sitting in the chair behind his desk, visibly stressed. (Y/N)'s absence for this length of time had him on edge.
Yeah, anyone who knew her knew that she could protect herself. Though he knew her long enough to know when something was wrong. Now was one of those moments.
It was Shayera's turn to get up and pace around the room. "And why...," she asked, getting more agitated by the second, "Did you not TELL me?"
Bruce crossed his arms and looked down, "every decision I have ever made since that day... including that one... was to protect her."Shayera scoffed, looking out the window. "Yeah, you've done a great job at that haven't you?"
Bruce glared up at her, " And I'm assuming you think YOU could do any better? YOU WOULDVE BROADCASTED THAT ONE SECRET TO THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD! Do you KNOW what the Joker would've done if he'd found out?!"
Shayera turned to face him, a grim expression on her face. "At least I was there when she NEEDED me most. I was there at her parents' funeral, to hold (Y/N) while she cried on MY shoulder. I held her hair back when she got sick from being stone drunk afterwords. Where were you, Bruce? Brooding in your fancy office?"
Bruce stood up, pointing an angry finger at her, "DON'T EVEN TRY TO TELL ME THAT I WASN'T THERE FOR HER. I was the ONE who was there to help her out of SHOCK when WE saw the dead, MANGLED bodies of her parents. Every fucking night, I would talk to her over the phone, because she had.... has... the same nightmare every, SINGLE time. I know all too well what it means to experience loss.. and I helped her build her life back together."
Shayera teared up, "You're still too arrogant to see past your own damn nose Bruce.... that was never what (Y/N) wanted.... she never cared for the big office, and the fancy balls... what she cared about was the people she loves. That was us. Now.... she may be gone.... because we couldn't help her."She wiped her tears away and stormed out of the room.
Bruce pushed a button underneath his desk, that opened up a secret entrance to the bat cave.
Alfred stood up. "Bruce.... I know you're upset right now... believe me... I am too... but was that really necessary..? I-I believe you owe Shayera an apology."Bruce walked into the entrance, and looked at Alfred as the doors began to slowly close.
"She'll have to fucking earn it.... I'm going after (Y/N)."
