Desperate Mistakes

The perfect day,
Spending it with the one you love.

You feel as if your life is perfect,
As if nothing can ruin it.

All is well.

You laugh.

You smile.

Falling apart unexpectedly,
Staying broken for what seems like forever.

Reasons and explanations nonexistent,

You feel left in the dark.

You feel pain.

You feel lost.

You feel numb.

You feel anger.

You feel like you're just some freak who suffers from something that isn't there.

Each time you fall apart,
You realize how it gets harder each time to build yourself back up.

Piece by piece.

Thought by thought.

Emotion by emotion.

Wanting to scream at the top of your lungs,
Your composure fading quickly.

Your skin crawls,
Disgusted by your own mind.

You want it to end.

You want to be normal.

Too afraid to beg for help,
You keep it to yourself.

Beginning to rely on the pills to stay alive,
They take over.

It started out as one pill.

2 pills.

3 pills.

4 pills.

With the amount still growing.

Your body dysfunctional and tattered,
The pills stopped working.

9 pills.

11 pills.

14 pills.

18 pills.

More desperate than before, Not giving up on the medication.

20 pills.

23 pills.

26 pills.

The whole bottle.

As you lay on the floor,
Black dots in your vision,
A strange sense of peace washes over your body.

Lips blue,
Eyes faded.

Fingers cold,
Head tingling.

Your life flashes before your eyes,
Tears dripping down your face.

And as you feel yourself slipping,
You realize how much of a mistake you made.

The peace leaves you.

Your mind fades.

Your vision goes black.
