"Hmmm." I groaned as I rolled over feeling something soft against my skin. It was nice...I snuggled closer trying to get warmer. Was I back home? A sharp inhale awoke me from my sleep. I opened my eyes to find Jiro sitting next to me, the soft object I was holding was the tip of his right wing. I sprang up fully awake.
"Sorry." I apologized as I smoothed my hair down. Jiro cleared his throat.
"There has been no word on Greg yet, but we will find him." He promised after seeing my frowning face.
"Ok." I murmured. He looked at me, probably sizing up my worth.
"I've had prior military training." I said "so feel free to use me however you'd like."
He nodded, then stood up.
"We'll spar daily, as soon as you can defeat me then you'll be allowed to leave the shack and come back to the compound."
I followed him outside where we began our training. It was like that day after day. He would leave me at night then come back in the morning bringing food. After I was done eating we would train. I found a river nearby where I took baths, Jiro provided me with hygiene products and fresh water. It was becoming tedious doing this day in and day out. Each time I was close to defeating Jiro he managed to knock me back. However I was recognizing a pattern. For some reason every time I brought my face to close, or if my body was pressed to tightly against his he would lose concentration and become flustered. With that bit of information I devised a plan for our next sparring match.
Jiro came at the crack of dawn as usual. I scarfed down my food then looked at him.
"Any news on Greg?" I asked.
"No."
I nodded. I was becoming more and more worried. 20 days had passed since I've been captured.
"Let's go." Jiro prompted. I nodded and got up following him outside.
He stopped in the middle of the opening and faced me, same as always. He always waited for me to attack first. I took a deep breath then charged at him, he blocked my upper cut and managed to stay balanced when I tried to sweep his feet. I backed off for a bit than looked for an opening. He always had one after my first few hits, he shifted his feet marking my opening. I ran, however instead of doing the usual sweep, I jumped as one would if they were running towards their lover after not seeing each other for a long time. This caught Jiro off guard he caught me mid-air I then grasped his face and brought it closer to mine. He turned beet red dropping me, afterwords I took that chance to grab his right arm and twist it behind his back pushing him to the ground. He fell down with a thud, before he could get up I leaned my chest against his hand, after realizing what he was touching he stiffened, ceasing all movement. I smirked, somewhat overjoyed from my win.
"Does this mean I win?" I whispered into his ear. That seemed to snap him out of whatever trance he was in. He twisted away from my grasp pinning me down onto the ground. I couldn't help but grin at his confused and irritated face.
"What's the matter?" I asked coyly. I couldn't help myself, for some reason the look on his face was the best thing I'd ever seen. "You ok Jiro?"
He seemed taken aback from my teasing.
"What's wrong with you?" He growled. My eyes widened at his suddenly serious expression.
"What do you mean? I saw a weakness in my enemy and exploited it? Alls fair in love and war."
"Is that so? And if I were to take advantage of you here and now due to your little stunt would that be worth your win?" He hissed nearing his face to mine. I blushed then looked away. Why was he so mad?
"You wouldn't do that." I finally said turning my head to look at him. "And even if you did what can I do? I'm basically at your mercy anyway."
He looked at me taken aback, "I see." He said with a sigh. Jiro released me than stood.
"You win. We're going back to the compound." I stared at him somewhat stunned. What was wrong with this guy?
"By the way." I said. "Why do you get flustered every time I get to close?"
Jiro looked at me over his shoulder, he studied me from head to toe narrowing his eyes in thought.
"I don't know." He murmured.
"That's not good. If it's due to the fact that I'm a woman you have to stop that. After all what're you going to do if you're faced with an all female army?"
He scoffed turning away.
"Says the human that can't win fairly without cheap tricks."
"First of all my name is Ritsu, secondly, do you really think the enemy is going to fight fair? Don't be naive."
He shrugged. "All I know is that I will always win." He said this last part with no doubt. Well at least he was confident...I shook my head in disbelief sure he was strong but so were a lot of people. Than again he was a demon so who knew?
"We're going." Jiro said. I nodded then stepped towards him, he swooped me off of my feet as he had done before and took flight.
